I have been playing with this technique and really love the effect. To me it is harder to accomplish the effect on a canvas. You get a much more defined look on a wooden panel, round or mdf board. However, I think the effect on a canvas is just a cool. I created this piece trying to find a good balance with the technique that I could use on a canvas. It worked. The effect is more muted but I still love it. I am going to continue to practice this technique and try variations of it as well. As I paint and practice I will continue to experiment with paint consistencies, different surfaces and different manipulations of this technique. Be sure to check back for updates!

As of right now I do not have specific ratio for my paint to water. I am still working on a specific amount and will share as soon as I have it. That being said, the paint is thinned with water to make the paints very fluid. I would say approximately 1:1 ratio.
