Reading the various threads on the single channel LoRa gateway, appears TTN prefers to NOT support single channel. They recommend deploying multi-channel versions, though they may make some accommodation in time. So, here's the question: Is it possible to adapt the "cheap" gateway to make it multi-channel capable?

As I wrote in my last comment: Remote diagnostics is not easy. So you have to search yourself. Maybe you find help on the TTN website. Test step by step to try to isolate the issue.

I do not think, there is a difference. In the data sheet, the manufacturer puts the W in parenthesis.

You probably know this by now but the W indicates CE/FCC certification as per www.hoperf.com/faqs/410.html PS. Thoroughly enjoying your channel by the way, enthusiastically ordered a Dragino hat yesterday :)

If you watch all my LoRa videos, you see, that many Telcos strarted to build networks based on this standard. So, I assume, it is good enough... The Single channel, however, is just to experiment. It does not fulfill the full standard.

Andreas, just got my RasPi LoRa Hat in and was trying to follow your instructions. Sorry but I am new to the Pi and LoRa but want to get the LoRa up and running to start testing. I got the SPI enabled but got lost your Step 4. Typed in at the command prompt and got up a GNY nana screen and not sure what to do from there to add the rest if the information. Just ordered a LoPy-PyCom board. Hope to have better luck with it. It already has a smart phone drag and drop type interface. Will have to check out issues with a single channel. I only need a single channel for this application. Gate Access to a facility where my customers only to access the gateway.

Hi! I am putting together the same project to do some tests but I have the 915MHz RFM95W, does that rpi software work the same for my lora module in 915mhz? If you have an example, can you send it to me? Thank you!. Greetings, very good project.

Hello Andreas, very nice video! Could I just ask you a question? There is a "frequency mark" on the back of every RFM95 module for 915, 868, 433, or 315 MHz. But you can set the carrier frequency in the module´s registers, so why is here this mark, if you can choose and set frequency that you want.

Because of the filters on the board.

@@AndreasSpiess No worries, its all subjective though, as it depends what you're using your rpi to do. To send some industrial points your monitoring would be extremely handy. As the esp devices don't like to talk modbus.

I have two questions regarding the Dragino LoraHat.reading the documentation, the blue led light up when the gateway is receiving packets, mine after is connected, the blue led turns on and stays on forever. another thing, it alway disconnect by itself even the dragino code is running on the raspberry pi, do you have any idea how to fix this. thanks again.

Hi Andreas, First of all, Thank you for all great videos. I have one question. Why it has only single channel and supports only 1 spreading factor? Is it because of hardware limitation or software limitation?
@AndreasSpiess

It is a hardware limitation of the transceiver. You find 8 channel gateways on this channel. But they are 10 times more expensive.
