First let me compliment you on your choice of music! Most audiophiles use very simple tracks that don’t have a lot of complexity/dynamic range/tamber. So Kudos to you for choosing a great orchestral piece to showcase these amps. Having said that, I can tell that the amps are delivering a very clean signal to the speakers, but those speakers sound like muddy garbage especially in the lower mid to bass region. You can hear the reverberations of the cabinets creating mushy boomy sound. It’s a shame because those amps deserve better. You should try a great pair of open baffle speakers with those. that will clean up most of that muddy/boomy midrange and bass.

Why the boom? Is it the poor quality recording camera microphone or the B&W 800 (doubt it)?

No, it is the room ; it is not acoustically treated, a lot of low frequency room modes...

B&W's echo distant sound is kinda boring, I've heard these relentless with the Wilson audio chronosonic and they are amazing.

The gauges are not to be relied upon according to D'Agostino, they did have them set to show the correct output but as they hardly moved due to the prodigious power they have etc people complained that they did not work so they got fed up and adjusted them accordingly :) can't remember if that was on their website or with an interview they gave.

Let me assure you that a 500$ Class-D amplifier will outperform this 250k$ joke amp. We did a blind test between the relentless and a DIY based ICEPOWER monoblocks (bridged) using the Focal Aria 946 speakers in a local shop, and no one could tell the difference. This amp is nothing but another snake oil product.

I highly doubt that a DIY mono can be compared to one of the above monoblocks. And people with that kind of money dont do DIYs. Also I think you mean Focal Aria 948..

@@RobG001 He has a point, the Relentless are a joke. I have seen systems where they use the relentless and even with all its power it is not able to feed a small passive subwoofer. They have to use one more amplifier... so why the hell to have 1500@8ohms ????

These Amps need to be connected to a pair of WAMM Speakers time aligned for the seating location for you to notice the difference between this and your DIY mono blocks. Plus you want to wire them with pure oxygen free silver wire.
