Great video! Just a note: 5:17 Portulacaria afra Bonsai - I don't think this is an actual variation, just a very old elephant bush that has been fertilized for many years

Hi Mary Ellen, I don't mean to be argumentative but they are actually related to Crassula. They are in the same plant family Crasulaceae. But they are not the same species.

Portulacaria afra f. Variegata Pink is def more rare and has more pronounced pink color. It is also more rare than the standard variegated elephant bush. The variegata tips will show signs of pink with stress of sun or cold. Hope that helps!

you missed the cork bark is named "frank yee" after the creator of it. the rainbow variety with the heavy variegation that grows lots of full moon/all white leafs. different from the one rainbow you named. also the new "candy" portulcaria. thats chemical induced i think. its just now reaching the us markets. its been in asia for a year or 2. probably was not available anywhere in western countries when you made this video. they just started to be sold in cali and florida ive seen the last month or 2. great break down tho

I have grown the variegated portulacaria before. I don’t think I’ll be able to grow a hedge of them here, but it is amazing the sizes they can reach in their native environment.

I get a lot of questions if this is in fact a jade plant or a Crassula plant. I’m not straying from the truth in any way shape or form. I love plants and I love caring for them. It really is mistaken for the Crassula though. I initially bought a crassula ovata thinking it was a P. Afra. I am now growing both of them

Yeah, I completely agree. It is confused by a lot of people! I regularly let people know what they think is a jade is in fact an elephant bush. Not every one is versed in the two and they don’t know what they don’t know. We all start somewhere!😊
