Currently on a YT deep dive of Johnnie Walker videos, I’m from Kilmarnock but living in England and feeling very patriotic to my hometown

Here's another thing. Johnny Walker Green is the only all single malt blend in the core range and it's the only one bottled above 40% ABV. My favorite. Cheers

Yes true fact! And I agree - it’s my favourite of the range. It’s delicious, has an age statement and discloses it’s ingredients, is and all single malt blend... and it’s affordable! Can’t go wrong. Thanks very much for watching! Cheers, Ed

EatSleepDrive yes I’ve heard that about a few of the “classics” - that the older bottlings are superior to the new bottlings. But, do you think it’s because it was better quality when it went into the bottle originally, or do you think it’s because it’s matured in the bottle?!
@eatsleepdrive7034
5 жыл бұрын
TopWhiskies Thanks for the reply. I have heard the same thing about the older bottling practices. I think the whiskey was simply better quality at that point in time. The overall ingredients in whiskey being used were better than today’s distillers and recipes have changed slightly over the years to accommodate a much larger scale of production, as well as profits. My opinion, is that it’s mainly due to the fact there were smaller batches being made and overall more pride and control over the final product decades ago. There is so much more being produced today, leading to less superior, less perfected whiskeys. Then again, I could be dead wrong. 😉 🥃

I think you're probably right, in so far as its an element of both these factors. As production scales to enormous volumes it stands to reason that things just can't stay the same as smaller production lines (sadly). Plus, there might then be the effect of time in the bottle, as the whisky continues to mature albeit at a slow rate.

Most interesting, lots of info. Currently working my way through a bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue label. Actually "working" is the wrong expression, I should probably say it's more of a "walker in the park" except sat in my study, not really in the park ........ I know its pretty lame, but its the best I could come up with at the end of the day, sorry.

what do you think to the "White Walker"? i have a bottle but don't want to open it lol. Also this could be called White label i suppose :)
@TopWhiskies
5 жыл бұрын
Haha, it could, it could. So, I tried this at Duty Free in Heathrow. It was served cold, which was rather novel - and somewhat fitting, considering it was 7am in the morning. It was eminently drinkable, and as I say, the cold dimension added an edge of intrigue. It perhaps doesn't have quite the flavour of, say the Green Label. Are you keeping it as a collectable? Thanks for watching Paul, Ed

Alas too true. When you see these brands say “limited edition” but then release tens of thousands of bottles you do feel they’re being a little canny with the use of “limited edition”! That said, as bottles get opened over time, the value will go up! Cheers, Ed
