you have to be somewhat literate to "get" Allen. There are references beyond the Jersey Housewives or whoever is on Jerry Springer these days.

For all Woody Allen having been criticized over his foibles, he still stands as one of the greatest modern comic minds. His 60's humor is everlasting genius.

i just saw midnight in paris and then listen to this and I'm freaking out. It's midnight in Paris as a stand up routine. Incredibly funny and a weird coincidence.

Not such a weird thing. Stand up is boot camp for ideas: they either die a horrible death or linger on, only to become novels, films, and sitcoms.

@chi8cago its no "coincidence". clearly WA had the seeds of a idea for this film many years ago...Big WA fans who saw midnight in paris immediately recall this routine.

Haha I love how you said you have to be literate to "get" Allen. Then go on to make an unintelligent comment that generalises anyone other than Allen fans

@chi8cago Except it's not really a coincidence, since he wrote and directed Midnight in Paris too.

Yes, you're right; and it's partly an age thing, which is sad for me. Sorry.

Hemingway, Gertrude Stein, etc., are all people of whom you should be aware. Manilleto (forgive me if I have misspelled it) was a bullfighter and unless you are into bullfighting, there would be no reason for you to know about him.

The spelling of the bullfighter's name is "Manolete." No need for apologies on the misspelling, dear lady. I agree that most people don't know about him and don't need to. Probably the only reason I know about Manolete is that I am a trivia geek!
