I try to do something without my phone. If it’s go on a walk or sit on the porch, you see and feel so much more when you don’t have the phone easy to grab. The time spent is much more enjoyable.

Almost every evening, I take a relaxing bath before bedtime. It’s a way to wind down my day and it brings me to the mindset that it’s time to rest. Rarely do I forgo this. My family even acknowledges this routine and kindly asks before they possibly occupy the bathroom. It is so respectful. They are a blessing to me with this. ❤

So true about work! Yesterday, I had to see a co worker a friend a person be told this is your last day you need to leave. Employers don't even see employees as people just as replacements and expendable. I believe in doing good work but not sacrificing your life for your job. Always put yourself first because your employer is only thinking of profits at any costs.

Hi Ashlynne. I completely resonated with your thoughts about practising Sabbath. This has been weighing on my heart a lot recently, and only this weekend I have been thinking about practical ways to keep it whislt being a mum, who has to take a couple of hours on Sunday to prepare for going back to work and getting school stuff ready for Monday. I'd love to see your journey with implementing rest. I've got a few ideas what will work for us that I am looking forward to giving a go next weekend.

I’ve set aside Sundays as self care Sunday each week. I’m not religious but it sort of the same as sabbath. I don’t do anything I don’t want to do. It’s typically breakfast, coffee and morning cigar and then just chilling. During football season the games will be on. But don’t really answer the phone or texts unless needed and take care of myself for that one day per week.

Work-life balance is tough, as we spend most of our waking hours (8 or more hours per day, 5 or more out of 7 days a week) at our jobs. I know I’ll never love everything about my job, but so long as I’m okay with at least 50% or more of it, I’ll be okay, even if it does eat up the majority of my time.

I am sorry but the morning thing is so annoying... I have to wake up at 5 am and have half an hour to get ready for work... I am not getting up at 4 to be able to have some sort of morning routine... that genuinely only works for people who get to sleep in every day... which I wish I could

Ashlynne, I love those videos, they are so soothing and bring a sense of calm. I absolutely love the idea of Sabbath (but do need to get better at it because I rarely ever really stop to have a true rest day). I find that being with myself, whether it is by reading, journaling or watching something meaningful (like The Chosen 🤍) gives me time to wind down and collect my thoughts, and recenter around what matters but I've been thinking about going on a solo retreat as well! Also very random question haha but how do you keep your resuable tea bags so fresh without any stains? 🫖
