Studies say women with degrees increase their chances of marriage. Also having a job online allows black women to travel more. I remember a black woman who worked online and traveled to different countries. She went to Italy and met a handsome Italian man and he married her. Her job and being able to travel exposed her more to different cultures and races of people. She's happy and found a good man and I'm happy for her.

This is very real. I was always classy and dressed well in my 20s. I was married to a broke man. Great guy but no ambition at that time. At 30 i went to nursing school. It changed my entire financial trajectory. I was able to travel, I was able to live wherever I wanted, sent my child to the best school. I drive the car that I like. I met more people with likemindedness. Get just one degree, or cert, or license, or job that will get you out of the hood. Its worth it. Baby steps.

As a person who has completely leveled up I approve this message. A female CEO once told me men will go for promotions when they’re 50% qualified to do the job while women tend to wait until they’re 85% qualified. This keeps us at lower levels and earning less. I never forgot this when I went out for promotions. She was right. I got every one I wanted and a higher salary than what was initially offered. Ask for more money and reach for the higher position. Most likely you’re far more qualified than others around you.

Once again Chrissie you give a mindblowing video full of promising advice. One of the first things I did when I leveled up was move away from the black community. I love my people, but some black folks are simply not good to have in your space. Next, as much as it hurt me I needed to let go of childhood friends that I knew would forever be stuck on the plantation of pain poverty, and struggle love. Finally, I made the choice to do better, and be better, and be very selective about what type of women I befriend, and what type of men I choose to have in my life. In addition to all that I got my money, mind, and body right. Leveling up is a deep process but once you get it done you're good to go.

I deleted all social media accounts and became tunnel focused on my goals. The sacrifices you speak of are very real. I moved states and cut friends and family off cold turkey. I am not dating, but I do have a sponsor. I am socially selective. I am definitely connected with the divine, hence the steps I took to get where I am today. I live six minutes close to the beach and my biggest expense is my $1800 rent that just increased to $1900 because I renewed my lease. I just bought my second LV bag, and I’m 31. I love luxury items, but they’re not a priority. I used to spread my level up journey, but instead of ppl being happy for you, they’ll despise you. Ladies, level up and silence and let the results speak for themselves. You can have that soft life as a black woman, but it will definitely take sacrifice.

Now I’m taking these next six months to focus on a larger goal that will place me in a position to win by 2025. Social media will always be there. One of the biggest things that get in my way regarding my level up journey is I procrastinate to avoid change. I have done this every time I am expected to transition to the next level. I have my "little" license and have been approved to take the test for my "big" license and refuse to study. My C.V. in my field is very diverse and would definitely land me a better paying job but I keep telling myself the reason I haven't applied anywhere else is because I am in the last year of getting the remainder of my student loans paid off (which is true). I need to read more books on complacency and procrastination. I am allowing others to make decisions for me when I wait until I am forced to make a move. I instantly had a tribe of like minded black women that encouraged me, supported me, pushed me and help develop many skills that I possess today. I am also an active alumni of the university I attended. Other organizations that helped me on my level up journey were Black MBA Association, National Association of Black Accountants, NextUp Women Empowerment, etc. As you make more money, be more intentional about where you travel as well. Yes, I travel overseas and to the islands but I also vacation in Martha’s Vineyard and the Hamptons. I have gone skying in the Poconos. I know for me, I didn't go to college because I already had a hard time learning in school, but I knew that I needed to do something and have some type of certification because I tried working without any certification or degree and its very hard to live on the wages. So I got a real estate license and agents make really good money when you work hard. I also didn't go to college because I see the way certain people in my family treat other people poorly who did not have a degree including me and I vowed to never let my worth come from any type of certification or degree. Some people will literally put their whole Identity in material things, awards, and education and it makes them bitter. Its better to find something you love doing (like I did) and live your life with joy, who cares what others think. But, you do have to make a living so choose your life wisely.

Thank you for your wonderful advice Chrissie. I work remotely 3 days and 2 days in the office so i always play them in the background, and your videos are always uplifting and empowering. I completed my degree in 2015 but I am always developing new skills in various fields which has helped me start my business and travel and the best thing to do is surround yourself with those who have a similar mindset. 😊

In the long run, if your body doesn't fluctuate much, if you are not about staying up to date on the latest fashion trends, you can buy classic, well-made clothes in natural fibers to level up your wardrobe without breaking your budget.

3:41 Also if money is an issue or if you don’t want to incur more debt, research can be your friend in either finding grants or programs to take for free. One friend of mine is learning about UX Design because her library card allows her to take the course for free as opposed to paying hundreds of dollars. Also a few Ivy League schools offer free courses or for a student to audit the course to expand your knowledge. Using the course as a way to socialize can also help, but I’d suggest if you’re taking a course with a clear secondary mission to socialize (or have access to men in a hypergamous strategy) that it should be something that’s either practical or interesting to YOU. If you go into a higher education setting for a class you don’t care about either because it bores you or is useless to you, it WILL show. Your attitude and mannerisms will slip at some point, so enroll into something you want or care about, even if the ‘care’ is a bigger paycheck.
