I think people didn't like this movie because it broke the usual Disney mold a lot...which is good. Notice how when Milo and Kida meets, they don't flirt at all. They actually have a conversation on something more important. Romance only comes at the very end of the film. Also, the movie could very well pass as an adventure for older adults, minus the jokes here and there. It has also an anti-exploitation message as the leader of the search party for Atlantis is only interested in the great power of the Heart of Atlantis, which would kill it's thousand years-old citizens, as it was the only thing keeping them alive and slowing down their aging significantly. Also, one thing that stands out in this movie is the design of the characters and backgrounds. It has little roundness to it.

Xavier Brock Better looking? Who cares if she was beautiful or not? She was brave, smart, a warrior with a loyal heart who wanted to protect her father and her people. A Queen who wanted to move foward, and she actually sacrificed herself in order to save her land. SHE WAS FUCKING AMAZING. NOT JUST "BETTER LOOKING".

Everyone thinks Tiana was the first black Disney Princess. Everyone thinks Elsa was the first white haired Disney Princess. Everyone thinks Rapunzel was the first Disney Princess with healing powers. Everyone thinks Ariel was the only one based on Greek Mythology. Everyone thinks Snow White and Aurora were the only two trapped in a strange sleep and had to be rescued. Everyone thinks Mulan and Merida were the only two to use actual weapons. Merida is a PIXAR Princess, and Mulan isn't even a real princess. Meanwhile, Kida be like: "Am I a joke to you?"

Same here. I want it to happen so badly. I mean I even have an idea on how to incorporate it. Basically it’ll turn out the Master of Masters is an Atlantean and that the war between light and darkness in part caused the sinking of Atlantis which the Master of Masters blames darkness for even though darkness is necessary for the existence of the universe.

OMG People don't realize how alike Atlantis and Avatar are! They both start with A in both humans find another civilization. one is entrusted with gaining their trust. He falls in love with the kings daughter. both talk about energy that flows through all living things. Bad guy who only cares for the money.

While the story is overly used, in many other forms, it's how the story is told that makes it "new" or "fresh". The story used in How to Train Your Dragon is vastly used, but HTTYD played the story and plot so well, that it felt "new". I feel the same way about Atlantis, but not so much about Avatar.

Lehava Lejurani the estimated budget of The Lost Empire, according to IMDB was around $90,000,000. www.imdb.com/title/tt0230011/business?ref_=tt_dt_bus And usually sequels are never as varied and thought out as the first. Because you know, toy deals and merchandising become the more important matter for franchises.

I'm gonna say it - The Crystal was a god - a formless being of energy that transcended dimensional limits. That's why when Kida, when possessed, reassured Milo that everything will be okay - because she had already seen the future and knew the outcome.

My intro to this song and movie was on the Disney Dinosaur VHS, ironically another movie Howard scored, the music was very mystifying to young me and I begged my dad for us to see it in theaters. Such a great film. Apparently, it didn't do well because it didn't have a strong marketing campaign. It really was meant for an older audience. Ah well, my kids will hopefully enjoy it someday. lol
