1312 - They Came In Peace Before Columbus *
"In the year 1311, the Black Muslim Emperor of the Mali Empire in West Africa, sent a fleet of 200 ships across the Atlantic, to explore for new lands and peoples, and trade with them in peace.
However, only one ship returned, and the crew reported that had found inhabited lands on the other side of the ocean.
So the Emperor ordered that an even bigger second fleet be outfitted and sail for the new lands - laden with items to trade, and food provisions for the crews, even Boabab seedlings (two very old Baobab trees are still in Barbados as living testament) - as it is a sacred tree.
This is the untold story of one of those Malian ships that deliberately reached the Caribbean - and landed in Barbados (and also Saint Vincent - and are the African ancestors of the Garifuna) in the year 1312, 180 years before Columbus accidentally reached the Caribbean."
..........................................................................................
In this clip we see two of the Mali Empire seafarers freshly landed on an East Coast beach in Barbados in the year 1312, who first thank Allah for bringing them safely over the ocean (as the Malian Empire was Muslim by faith), then drinking water from an Ostrich egg water carrier they brought with them as the look around at this new land they have reached, then deciding to leave their weapons in the boat as explore the island by foot to see if they find any locals - trusting that Allah will guide and protect them from harm, as the ship's 10 man crew had decided to split up into small groups of 2 men each to explore the island, following the many Amerindian footpaths that crisscrossed the island (which many modern roads were later actually based upon), they will later encounter the Lokono-Arawaks at a village (near what we now call Chancery Lane swamp) and establish lasting friendly relations, that will ultimately lead to mixed race descendants with full beards (unlike Amerindians) who 2 centuries later will be seen on the island by passing Portuguese ships and be called ‘Os Barbudos’ (‘the bearded ones) in the Portuguese language - this is the true origin of the island name 'Barbados' we know today.
It is my assertion that THIS is ALSO the reason & origin of the word 'Mali' adopted into the Lokono-Arawak language since that time, which means 'an orator/great speaker' - no doubt coined from being impressed with the great public speaking ability of the 'Mali people' they met, for it was a well-honed art form in the highly educated society of Mali that was promoted in the Malian Empire - and for which it was renowned for, just as I know that the work Danki was only adopted into the Lokono-Arawak language since the early 1600's when my tribe first made contact with the Dutch - whose word for 'Thank you' (a term NOT in our ancestral language) is 'Danke' (both spelling versions are pronounced the same phonetically).
The actor in white is playing the role of a Mande warrior (who will later take a Lokono-Arawak as a wife and have children for he was a single man - when the Malians realize they will never return to Africa and are stranded in Barbados), and the actor in black is playing the role of 'Suleiman the scribe' an older wise and pious mid-level Mali court functionary sent by the Emperor to accompany the fleet and act as chronicler, and his father is Arab while his mother is Mande. He remains faithful to the memory of his Mande wife and children back in Mali - even though he knows he may never see them again.
This film will be done entirely in the Mande, Arabic, and Lokono-Arawak languages - for added dramatic effect and historical accuracy and credibility.
Much more supporting evidence in my possession hitherto not widely known to the Caribbean public - will be revealed and shown in the film. We will rewrite the false Eurocentric history of Barbados & the Caribbean - one film at a time at First Nations Productions, hopefully, WITH the support of progressive Caribbean Governments (and private citizens who want the truth to be revealed at long last) who see the value of the mental emancipation we are promoting to combat the lingering academic Eurocentric racism that still exists on our post-colonial societies.
