1979 Liverpool football team. Liverpool’s greatest team. I was ten in 1979, and this Liverpool team was everything to me. Kings of Europe. Best team in England. Ray Kennedy was my hero. Pure class.

Sign of the times - I remember feeling so upset at being knocked out of the FA Cup by United in 1979 that I would have happily traded the League for a shot at the Cup Final (I was only 10). Now the FA Cup means nothing and 6 league points v United would be golden. Still, at least Alan Sunderland broke the Manc hearts in a cup final classic!

Great upload. The pitches were so different then as well. Remember Derby County's baseball ground being rough for a lot of the season but they all seem to be better these days.

When you think of modern football in England you think of rich men use a lot of money to buy trophies

Best ever British team by a country mile. From 1977 to 1985. But this team, although Forest had their moment in the sun, was the best. Dalglish was truly world class and at his peak. Souness was as good as any central midfielder in Europe. Liverpool were imperious and won four European Cups in seven years, striding like a beautiful gazelle and sweeping all before them.
