Not relevant to this video, but something I have thought about. Does an aftermarket watch strap devalue a watch much? Ok if it’s a bracelet I get it. But a replacement leather strap do people care that much? I see custom straps for €300+ but I do not see them adding that value to the watch for resell. Same buying NOS OEM would it really add that much more value vs a quality mid range strap?

One is the famous SKX homage. For the price, it is far better than the SKX. They are well made, affordable, and tons of fun. The second is his pilot watch. His pilot watches are also hard to beat for the price and are not Seiko homages. I picked mine up used on eBay in like new condition for under $100. He’s coming out with a field watch as well soon I believe. He’s a very kind guy as well. I screwed up a mod with some parts I purchased from him. He suggested I send the watch and all the allots to him and he would have a look. Not many people do that these days from a $50 sale.

@MammothBehemoth

I'm guessing: Independent can be of any size with no affiliation to other brands, groups, or family of company/ies Microbrands, tho usually independent, can have affiliation to other group of companies (usually in an EDC, or outdoor/camping gear company) Boutique, as an impression would normally cater to custom, limited, or specially made time pieces/clients and would normally be more expensive (atelier). Might also be part of a group or family of companies

Just a word of warning with micro brands, I preordered a maen skymaster and it honestly has been the worst consumer experience in my life. I regret every second I've spent with them and my money is currently in limbo with no product and no update as to when I'm going to get my money back either. I cancelled my preorder in March and they have had my money since then. They're sharks. The product had no finished pictures apart from computer generated CGI mock ups and when the actual images were released the Panda model looked nothing like what people expected it to look like and nothing like the mock ups on their website. If you check out a great Korean watch channel called WATCHVILLAIN he has a breakdown of what is so bad about it. My gut instinct to cancel the watch was confirmed by his video. Just remember when you go to do business with these kinds of brands there's always a risk. I'll never preorder or kickstarter a watch again. If you have any questions about my experience hit me up but no one online is talking about it, I'm sure there are other plenty of others going through the same thing.

David S. Thanks for the reply. The dial that came out was champagne colored rather than white. If you dig deep online you can find what I’m talking about it but the bracelet also looks like a total afterthought. I wouldn’t recommended any watch enthusiast to support a company like that. It seems that it is not run by people who love watches, just by people who identified a niche. It’s sad that when we the people who have such passion for this hobby get burnt by voting with our dollar for the things we’d love to see.

That is a bummer to hear about this. I was looking forward to seeing what they were going to deliver there. The watch looked attractive but based on that video you suggested (just watched) it appears that there was a lot of mistakes in manufacturing. These are beautiful time pieces and it’s great that some are truly affordable too. I was aware of micros but not how rich the part of the market is. Great education!!

Good videos, but why do you always show such similar watches? One of the best micro brands are Vostok Europe watches, absolutely beautiful, I collect them myself, amazing quality.... would be nice to see you include some of these watches too, as their design is different from the usual run-of-the-mill Rolex look-alike and are stunningly beautiful in their own right.

Sorry but microbrands have unattractive names ''Monta?'' ''Nodus?'' ''Zelos?'' ''Ocean Crawler?''

sWell done video, but to honest, some of these choices have a nice spec sheet, others have the same spec sheet as a $100 pagani design: stainless case and bracelet, sapphire glass, nh35 movement, c3 luminova....... I have to say the majority of this list is totally overpriced - no one should be paying $500 for an NH35 powered watch

Great video, thanks for all the effort you put into this. Your watch shots look almost as good as the ones you can see in Watchfinder & Co's videos. Amazing! :)

I can't find anything about Eza being started by 2 dutch brothers. They seems fully german. Is this a mistake on Teddy's side or am I missing something? cheers....a dutch person

You have to check out, this brand called Enoksen. We just started selling them as the only dealer in Denmark (Mens clothing store) but we care about quality even though it's not our profession. These watches are good looking, and good quality.

Video should be retitled to List mostly USA based microbrands of 2020. The problem of these brands, if you are not from usa, is you basically pay double tax. First in the usa, and then import taxes. Quite expensive.

Sorry but I don’t get why most of them have no stock of their nicest models. Watching a video like this to find out that 60% - 70% of the mentioned items can only be bought on the second hand market at higher prices than brand new is so stupid. It is totally made intentionally to promote especulation. Just ridiculous.
