I was diagnosed with depression at a young age. rarely went outside, developed agoraphobia, and stayed home almost every day barely leaving my room. once my old doctor retired I was replaced with a new one. she brought up vitamin d deficiency to me after doing lab tests for the medication I was taking. she told me to start taking vitamin d. and it’s helped me improve in a lot of areas. it really has made a difference to me.

I can definitely tell you Vitamin D is SO IMPORTANT! Vertigo, hair loss, weight gain, and especially for mental health. I was depressed and crying everyday over the silliest little things and even if I detected a tone change in my husbands voice. I was never like this before. Fast forward a couple months and I decided to book a surgery that would improve my health and weight loss. During all the steps for screening I had bloodwork so many times and it was discovered my Vitamin D levels were beyond the “low” point and I needed it pronto! Within a week of receiving the correct dosage everyday, it’s improved 10 fold and I don’t feel how I did. However, since I cannot absorb iron, B12, and Vitamin C either I’ve been diagnosed with malabsorption syndrome. I beg anyone whom has even one vitamin deficiency, to get a full mineral and vitamin blood panel done. It could save you months of depression and even save your life.

Someone named Laura asked how to get the full blood panel done, and you would have to ask your Family Doctor or a walk-in clinic doctor here in Ontario, Canada. It’s free under OHIP but there are a few here that we do have to pay for regarding more screening for blood disorders (which can contribute to deficiencies and isn’t limited to anemia). Hope that helps 😁

If your doctor doesnt bring up finding a deficiency when you explain your symptoms, then find a new doctor. This! I've been prescribed anti-depressants in the past.. my new doctor tried to say I have borderline personality disorder due to my low extreme moods. I had to push for bloodwork and I am low in both vitamin D and iron (ferritin). I've connected with a naturopath who I feel is actually there to support my best interests. My current doctor does PPR and when I went to her about my hair loss she tried to offer me that service rather than doing bloodwork. Unfortunately accepting doctors are hard to come by here.

Some doctors have said having patients come in routinely for appointments to renew a prescription that only treats the symptoms is their “bread and butter”. Great business model for them if you think about it. You need to research yourself, get tested for Vit D, and discuss with your doctor. If you bring up the discussion they will try to help you. If not, find another. Most doctors go into the profession to truly help people, but some are drawn in by the money.

@@tomunderwood4283 absolutely makes sense. My doctor refused to let me test for vitamin D last year despite it being a test I pay out of pocket for. She finally agreed this year and I’m low in both ferritin and vitamin D despite her saying I’m fine. We have a doctor shortage in my province so finding a new family doctor has proven difficult. In the meantime I’ve been doing my own research and working with a naturopath who actually listens.

The one thing you're leaving out is that taking vitamin K2 with vitamin D helps your body store it better and deliver it to your bones, along with calcium. I used to be severely deficient of vitamin D and started taking a copious amount of D3 each day and after a year, my levels only increased by a small margin. I then started taking calcium and k2 and after less than a month, my vitamin D level were normal.

It would be a great loss of money to doctors if they tackled the easiest solution first. No. We have to be sent to 3 or 4 specialists for tests who cannot discover the problem. No way will most doctors try to help in the simplest way possible. I stopped going to the doctor because all they did was shuffle me to and from, give me drugs and say "I don't know. Take all of these pills though." 6 prescriptions later I weaned off all medications and the majority of my problems disappeared when I started seriously looking into vitamins.

4 жыл бұрын
@@juliekane7210 Vitamin D helps your body absorb Calcium. Calcium is one of the Major Minerals (aka macro-minerals). Adults need 1,200mg daily. Here’s some info about calcium deficiency: draxe.com/nutrition/calcium-deficiency/ Vitamin D3 - is one of the fat-soluble vitamins, meaning your body can store excess of these in the liver and fat tissues. The other three that are fat-soluble are A, E, and K2. Vitamin D isn’t always thought of as a vitamin since we make it ourselves. Humans produce vitamin D when exposed to sunlight. A daily dose of about 20 minutes of sunlight provides all we need. Vitamin D3 is the most effective kind, the same that comes from our own skin and lichen. We should get 5,000-6,000 IUs daily. See info on Vitamin D deficiencies: www.everydayhealth.com/news/illnesses-linked-vitamin-d-deficiency/ More on D3 (cholecalciferol): www.webmd.com/drugs/2/drug-6152/cholecalciferol-vitamin-d3-oral/details

Dr. Steven Gundry said, he has never ever seen a toxic level of Vitamin D. He said he regularly takes 15,000 per day. You have to remember that when you look at FDA (minimum) levels. That means before you start showing signs of diseases. If you know a gym rat... they normally are a great source of nutritional information. Unfortunately, Doctors are not trained in nutrition so you have to get your info elsewhere. It’s shocking and sad that Doctors know nothing about nutrition. Check out Dr Steven Gundry. I went in to see my doctor, for months and months I kept telling him that I was losing my hair, off balance, falling, weak spells, no energy, all those symptoms and last month I went to see him and I ask would he please check my Vitamin D, a few years ago I broke a bone on the left side of my left leg, and didn’t know why until my orthopedic doctor check it and it was low, for how long I don’t know, and this time when the results came back it was 9, normal being 30-100, I couldn’t believe this. My doctor couldn’t say anything because if I had not ask for it to be checked, then he would not have had it done. I just found out I had vitamin d deficiency in November 2020 after having a blood test. I have read that Vitamin d deficiency is often overlooked by GP’s and a blood test is not automatically given for Vitamin d deficiency by your GP, unless you request that to be done. The blood test for Vitamin D Deficiency was taken by a locum doctor at my GP’s surgery without me known and not by any of the partners at my surgery and I’m so grateful to her that she did that blood test. I had heard of Vitamin D Deficiency, but I never knew about any of the symptoms until I had that blood test in November 2020. So for anyone in the UK who has similar symptoms, request a blood test for Vitamin D Deficiency. It could be caused by other medical issues as well. But if it is Vitamin D Deficiency it can be medically treat very easily. Although I’m still not feeling 100% fit and healthy as of yet!

But it got to the point that he was having freq panic attacks, severely depressed, unable to concentrate or function @ school, exhausted but unable to sleep, list goes on & on. We attributed all of this to mental health but his psychologist suggested a full physical. (Mind u he’s 6 ft 3” healthy looking boy). Boy, was I shocked w/the labs. His Vit D was 4! And his thyroid is overactive, fort due to a “hot nodule” that is seemingly becoming less active. He’s been on massive Vit D for 2 wks & is already noticing some improvement. Def not “well, but after 2 yrs, it brings me to tears to know he has even a small amount of relief. And I will forever regret not realizing sooner that there were physical causations beyond any of the mental health. Do yourself a favor & have the labs run.

If it was, imagine how much we'd save by preventing so many signs and symptoms due to deficiencies or excess thereof.

My doctor seriously told me that he never test for vitamin D deficiencies because he thinks it’s a “trend“. After asking him more than once if I could get vitamin D deficiency testing and getting nowhere with it plus being super depressed and in pain I ended up finding a new doctor finally. Testing was done my levels are 27 and she’s going to have me take supplements at 10,000 UI for a month and then test again. I’ve also had Hashimoto’s for the last nine years and those two go hand-in-hand so I really wish I would’ve known about this so long ago it would’ve saved me so much sadness.

How ironic is it that this video was posted Nov 16, 2019... the same day the first case of the novel coronavirus was reported at hospital in Wuhan. And that its playing “music: epidemic”?!! Crazy. But some research has concluded that up to 50% of the people who died from covid19 were found to have vitamin d decencies. If 40% of population deficient in vitamin d, that is probably why the death rates is so high. It also makes sense how one common symptom of covid is body aches... and vit d helps prevent achy bones/joints/muscles. After learning everything in this video... it definitely makes sense why vitamin d is critical at a time like this!

It's true that some things have been associated, but correlation doesn't equal causation. It just means it has been observed together. There is no evidence that vit D has any causal effect. Vitamin D levels are a pretty good measurement of how sick someone was before covid, but it's probably their underlying illness or frailty from old age that is worsening the effect covid-19 has on the body just as it is causing their vitamin D deficiency. It may well be proven in the future that it's the vitamin D deficiency itself that makes for worse odds, but that is not the case at this moment.

Good commentary, however, I blame our primary care physicians for their lack of responsibility when performing routine "physicals" on their patients. Hopefully, readers are seeing their primary care MD at least once a year for a physical. If your MD does not take the time to order these three basic & routine blood tests, request they be performed: 1) complete blood count (CBC) , 2) chemistry (basic metabolic) panel, & 3) fasting full thyroid panel. The next three blood tests, IMO, are essential to maintain good physical health because so many of us are deficient: Vitamin D levels, Vitamin B & Folate (folic acid) levels, & Magnesium levels. Many illnesses, as well a being tired, having no energy, being depressed, etc., are your body's manifestations due to lack of VITAMINS. How do I know,? I WAS this person. After demanding I have my vitamin levels checked, I am on Vitamin D2 50,000 iu caps one weekly as Vitamin D levels barely registered on my blood test. The same with Vitamin B, I'm on Cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12) 1000 mcg/ml Intramuscular Injections once a month, also on 1.0 mg of folic acid (B9) daily. The following blood test should be the "standard", mandated blood test for ALL patients once a year - it's called a, "Complete Blood Test Panel which includes testing levels of Vitamins A, B1, B6, B9 (Folic Acid), B12, C, D, E, and K1." Did you know that low levels of Vitamin B are responsible for Crohn’s, ulcerative colitis and/or Celiac disease as these conditions do not allow the body to absorb Vitamin B. I could write a book from my own experiences. If we, as patients, are not our own "assertive" advocates for our health, trust me, no one else will be. Doctors are humans, not gods, so demand you be tested for Vitamin deficiencies as you may well be ill due to this fact. God bless you all in your search for the utmost physical wellness!
