Thanks again, Philip, for making this informative video. I may not find all these trends equally interesting or relevant, but the ones that I like inspire my creative impulses. I may end up dropping them.)

trend doesn’t mean trendy, usually the opposite! if you support a graphic design project with trends, you’re going no further than your nextdoor graphic designer that’s doing the same. Coherence, sensibility and tradition are key to good graphic design; the rest is all trend :)
@robertbruce5213

I am a career brand and graphic designer, primarily in wines spirits and luxury goods, and Silicon Valley. It’s funny, I have seen a lot of these trends myself and giving them different names. The figure isolation I called New Collage, because the isolated halftone figures are generally over pastiches of other halftone images or geometric bits- these were lifted right out of Paul rand and just about every annual report from the 1950s. . I also called the curved gradient fade trend Solar Minimal, because it as an evolution of the previous year’s trend where the fades were often contained in circular or sun -ike elements. The other trend that is very big that I see I call the new abnormal. Lots of lock ups of distorted, deliberately awkward typography, very driven by black-and-white, very edgy. I think it is what inspired the 2020 &. 2021 trend of headline topography being dominated by fat face serifs. I thought the electronic surrealism had just about exhausted itself, but it is rescued by artists like Tycho, still bringing the vibe. I called that one Cosmic Earthtones.

Well I am glad I watched this, thanks so much for making it. I'm trying to design some books covers and am a total beginner at that. I'm looking for some kind of distinctive style I can use across all the covers and the black, white and red trend immediately grabbed me and stood out from the others as being perfect. I can produce different covers for each but keep that style across them all, it's perfect for what I was looking for. Thanks
