Bill has done reviews on, or discussed a number of the tools shown in his kit. Padlock combs, American lock bypass wafer buster, plug spinner, etc... But, it would be pretty sweet to see a front to back walk-through of what everything is/does! Maybe an idea for a video series! 🤞

i fell asleep at the computer last night and had a dream where you had some kind of meet-up, and there were like 5 other people at your lock lab. i remember there was a lock that was getting stuck somehow and i was convinced a shim would make it open. i kept fiddling with the key and was embarrased because i wanted to impress you by opening it. i dont remember anything else though. i want to say i think there was a beach involved? it might have morphed into another dream at that point

What I want for Christmas, Bosnian Bill to make a couple of videos for Christmas and New Years. I sincerely missed out on him releasing new content as a new picker. LockPickingLawyer got me watching but with all sincerity it was BosnianBill and LockPickingNoob who gave me the confidence to buy my first Sparrows pick set and start with padlocks 🔒. So far I’ve shimmed locks, bypassed locks, and city raked locks. Please come back to us some day Bosnian Bill.

I imagine the fake rivits are a byproduct of the casting process, where the vents would have been. Could easily be wrong of course.
@johnbeauvais3159
5 жыл бұрын
Could also be ejector pin marks
@danpowell806
5 жыл бұрын
Those looked like vents to me, but I don’t see why there’s be three vents. Definitely an artifact of the casting process, along with the seam. I’d be surprised if hitting it with a hammer broke it on the seam, though. In warm conditions I’d expect it to fail at the thin part next to the shackle, and in cold conditions I’d expect a corner to break off whole, or at least crack badly. I do agree that a few blows with a small hammer would open an aluminum lock body like that. But two wrenches prying the shackle apart would be quieter and faster.

So it is impossible to pick warded locks? All you can do is use theses skeleton keys then?
@flatfingertuning727
5 жыл бұрын
While the only warded locks that are built today are made to allow stamped keys, and can thus be operated by straight skeleton keys, I would think that it would be possible to make a cheap warded lock that would require an attacker to impression a custom key or have a large set of "try-me" keys by designing most of the mechanism to use a key with a thick "blade" but (assuming the blade of the key starts vertical) having it pass through plates that would require that the actuating tips have slots ground 55% of the way through from the left or right. If the warding reached more than 50% of the way through the blade, it would be impossible to make a skeleton key with slots on both sides because there would be nothing holding the tip of the actuating portion to the rest of the key. If a company were to do that, do you think you could open that as quickly as a typical pin-cylinder lock with security pins but nothing exotic like the Medeco swivel pins, etc.?
@bosnianbill
5 жыл бұрын
Absolutely! It is such a good idea that someone actually did it about 100 years ago. The design is so successful that it is still being done today for high security locks. We don't see them too often here in the US, but in Russia, Bulgaria and Poland they are commonly seen on people's front doors. Also, Abus has done this (I think in their Alpha) and in Europe this design is used on bank vaults with VERY long keys - sometimes 300-400mm long! THAT would be really difficult to pick.
@flatfingertuning727
5 жыл бұрын
@@bosnianbill I know that's how warded locks used to be made. The "problem" was that if one covered a key blank with lamp black, one could determine where it needed to be cut. While that was definitely a weakness, I would think the time required for an attacker to do that would exceed the time required to defeat most common locks, and laminated warded locks should be really cheap and easy to make. Maybe the existence of crummy warded locks, like the existence of crummy number-dial locks, has resulted in a lack of interest in producing quality warded locks.
