Important points/great podcast! As a home gardener with both a vegetable garden + flower garden, SMALL & well-planned is the way to go! One body can only do so much before it gives out! (And I'm NOT growing to sell!) Lisa, you've been instrumental in getting me to rethink my personal garden goals. Thanks!

🌻Nicole got me with the video, title - something like, the financial truth about flower farming. She did what the title said. She was so forth right, straight forward, to the point. Just like Lisa mentioning that someone was criticizing the course, maybe Dave Dowling's course, described it as "dry". For me, that is what I wanted and needed, no fluff, no filling time with minutes of over head views of landscapes with lovely music, just facts and concise personal examples of what they had in mind, how they worked through it, what their plans are for the future. I so appreciate no fluff, meat and potatoes information, insights, lessons learned, facts, there is no time for me to to waste. I have set aside the money for Dave Dowling's course, excited. I do have to mention that I stayed watching Nicole Pitt, Flower Hill Farm videos, bc she was fun, funny, sweet, sure she fixed herself up sometimes, but I don't know how many I have watched starting out with her saying, "I just have to show you this." A mistake, a disappointment, a success, thrilled with something new or unexpected, she was on a quick break from her work in the field, no frills just funny sunglasses, then back to work. She is relatable, to someone dreaming of starting a flower farm. She is much younger than I am, so I view starting a flower farm very very cautiously.

🌻44 - 100' beds, hand made, on 1/4 acre lot. I've paused the interview to try to take that in. I know at my age, alone, I cannot hand make 10 - 20, 30' beds without the bed maker. Since I do not have a tractor, a bed maker, or the money to buy either, I have not started. I have all the seeds, the tools to start them, it would be suicidal to buy the liner and try doing it myself by hand, or try to do it without the liner knowing the weed work involved, I would feel so defeated so fast. Even planning very small, easy to grow seeds only, nothing fancy. I find Lisa's journey amazing. Only question - How long did Lisa and team work under those conditions? I vaguely remember her speaking about this before, I think she said more than one season, even one season. I think succession planting started a few years into her farming journey, if they were succession planting... Think how many beds were made in one season/year.
