I have carried it through a condo and lifted it up to a raised planter. It's not a big grinder and it is not intended to replace anything big. For what it is, I am very happy with this tool.

Used it on Friday. Ground out a 24" palm stump in less than 10 minutes! Sharp teeth, soft stump--Bingo, made some good money!

KINGCOIL1973 to be honest, it does beat me up but i can get into really tight spots that i cant get my bigger machine into. So, for me, it's worth it.

I post this video for those of you who are interested in this machine. Some like it (me) and some call it junk (or worse) without ever using it. This machine is not intended to replace a larger grinder but for the low cost and ability to get into tight spots, you can't beat it. Keep an open mind and you too may see why I like it--but then again, many of you have a hard time seeing the whole picture.

That machine that you called bad, has made me a hell of a lot of money over the last 8 years that I have owned it. If you make such a negative comment, you should back it up with some facts. I made $600.00 yesterday with my Alpine in just 2 and a half hours! Your ignorance is clear.

If you paid attention to the comment about the 600. you would have seen that it was on multiple jobs. Junk? Hardly. I have done thousands of stumps with this machine!

Blair, have you ever kept an old chainsaw chain and file off the rakers and use it to get the stump super low before grinding? Its something I do and I call them "sacrificial chains"..lol Sometimes I hit them at an angle from the center to each side.

+billy mcfadden I used it with dull teeth to dig the planting holes for 3 15 gallon trees I planted for a client. Ground was rock hard and grinding up the dirt first, made a tough job a lot easier and a lot faster. Don't use good teeth for digging.

Good job.

Pretty interesting tool. It's not like a full-sized monster-ass stump grinding machine but it would seem to have its unique applications. Low-impact, good for hard to get at locations. Low initial investment. I wasn't sold at first. I can see its value, however. Nice vid.

I've often wondered how these machines worked. Would work great chasing roots on big stumps like cottonwood, pine, willow etc, then finish with a big machine. It has it's place.

+Gary Hull There are stumps that I won't bother to use this machine on. (Big surface rooted Magnolia, M. Pines etc). But on softer trees like Alder, I don't hesitate to use the Alpine. I have ground out 6" diameter Redwood stumps in about 4 hours and made some really good money. I was sore the next day--but hey, I'm 62 and still using it.

+arboristBlairGlenn what? 6 inches in 4 hours? How do you stay in buisness? Time is money, that's way to long, and changing stumps back and forth so you don't hit dirt and rocks? How often do you change your teeth? At least you clean around the stump, not trying to be harsh so I apologies,

Thanks for the educational videos.. but next time you sharpen the teeth on your machine, can you do an up close video? I would love to perfect my techniques and get my teeth "razor sharp".... because so far, i do think I'm doing any good with my grinder...

I would take one any day. I had a call to remove a stump the man had already paid a big grinder to come in and remove it the broke a hydraulic line first minute there they left the machine sitting two weeks came back and backed into his house doing 8 thousand in damage to the only bathroom in the house. I got called and fixed the bathroom and that's when they ask if I would dig up the stump. I wish that I had that it was the hardest $350.00 I ever made. ELM I learned AXE and SHOVEL my butt.

The best way to remove a tree stump is to burn a small fire on it. It smoulders away to ash, even below ground level.

This machine is more sensitive to dull teeth than other machines. It's more like a chainsaw/carbide chain tooth, bigger but it really needs to be sharp. I sharpen in place with a diamond wheel on a battery powered angle grinder.
@Milosz_Ostrow
9 жыл бұрын
arboristBlairGlenn The angle grinder you used in this video at 8:08 has a cord coming out of it. Is it AC mains-powered, or is the cord going to an off-screen 110VDC battery pack or a 12V storage battery with AC inverter?
