THANK YOU for this!! Husband and I are very strongly considering coming out on the road as OOs doing power only. Something about the load boards appeals to me. I’m a research fiend so I feel like it’d be like a game, or a hunt to find “that load” that works for us. Often my husband says “ok babe, I think you’ve looked enough” but oh no, I leave no rock unturned lol. Also love what you said about efficiency. You hear people always talk about what something pays per mile but what about the cost of your time? I enjoy creating systems or making existing systems more efficient so I appreciate this being highlighted. Thanks again for all the knowledge nuggets!!

So, Im commenting before finishing the video. I try to ONLY do Amazon spot loads if the rate is above $2.50. I've heard you make the most with Amazon when you get access to their contracts section. I beg to differ if you use the Dat it's where the left over loads go to when they have a load and don't care about it, I mostly use the brokers load board and tlq app is better I can bid and instantly book on the coyote app coyote always has way more loads listed on their own app that the DAT, I've seen alot of loads on most brokers direct app and the loads pay way more on the broker apps even jb hunt will show $1500 on Dat board for the rookies that don't know better and they will be offering $3,000 on the 360° app. Even wine loads out of Sacramento California pays alot still but you can't find them anymore I just look up my old bills and call those brokers those loads $8k or better but if you know you know and we need to keep quiet because the guys from over seas that ruined the trucking industry will come in the power only side and ruin the rates, other than reefer power only pays the most and if you can't find a PO load just get a one way load out to a good place

Are power-only loads meant to replace freight brokers since they all seem to take more than 10-15 percent?
@steadytrucker
5 ай бұрын
Starting out you will need brokers for most of your loads. At some point you start making contacts and occasionally shippers will ask you to cut out the middleman. You can always go directly to shippers to find freight. ONE BIG THING,, if you start working directly for shippers you'll be waiting ,at the very least, 30 days to get paid sometimes up to 60 days. You also take the risk of not getting paid at all. I factor all my loads. My money is guaranteed and I get it the next day because brokers set up credit accounts with factoring companies.

Be diligent on the load boards. Be versatile, ie; carry straps, chains, blocking, wide load signs, flags etc. Knowing the loadboards, types of loads, lanes and what is going to waste your time is important.

There are breakdown services like roadmaster that are similar to AAA which can take care of finding roadside or wrecker service at a discount. Knock on wood,, I have always been able to get to a garage during trouble with the exception of tires. No matter where you are there will always be a mobile mechanic or mobile tire service willing to charge you lots of money for roadside service, lol.

I've been driving 23 years and you are right people don't understand booking your own loads with a semi is different and way more difficult and idk but I don't like to do amazon loads because they will want you to do crazy miles in a shirt time but jb hunt pays way more than most brokers do because uts a trick because I've seen a $1600 load on the Dat board from jbhunt and got the same load for $2,800 and it's a trick they show a low price on the Dat but on 360 its like double, I do jb hunt some times and it's just drop and hook and I only go about 5 miles down the road to get that empty dropped. I've never really had delays with jb and almost all their loads are firs come and drop first come also I also don't do any load paying under $1200 because its never worth it even if it's $800 at 150 miles I don't do those because anything can happen I mostly do asap load with no delivery. Swift also has better paying loads than jb also and I know where the nice jb loads are but dollar per miles don't matter if it's $10 a mile. I use coyote, jb swift , landstar and tlq but the difference with me and these drivers is that I know how desperate they are I don't do any load under $2.00 per mile
@kaifaziz2343
Жыл бұрын
the only type of jb hunt loads that pay as far as power only is their private load board. it's the exact same loads as the free 360 loadboard but they show you way more money. it's not negotiable. you login and pick the load you like. most of the loads are garbage as because the market has been down since the summer but they have freight that pays 4 or 5 dollars a mile on their board. the only thing is they take 22% away from the rate. even though they take that much you still can clear 3.50-5.00 a mile on each load. call jb hunt ask for Zach. he can sign you up on the private loadboard.
