Your advice about being a responsible tourist is something we should all consider, no matter the destination.

True words but especially in places that struggle with overtourism I felt responsible to point it out. As simple as these rules are, many tourists simply aren't aware of the problems their decisions are causing sometimes (e.g. short term rentals vs. Hotels). But being aware is the first step to change.

Kudos on the words about overtourism. I live in a small Florida beach town that has suffered greatly due to overtourism to the point that over half of locals that lived here 14-20 years ago have moved away for various reasons like overcrowding, increased cost of living, etc. It's sad.

A good way to analyse vloggers is their representation of your country/city. Besides the small mistake of Castelo (Castillo is castelo in Spanish), this is a really great video, which made me subscribe your channel. Well done. Keep those videos coming Steve.

Great video! But please remember that helping local businesses is also staying in short term rentals! Short therm rentals are mostly owned by families so it's their main source of income since the 2008 crisis.

This my be the favourite Lisbon city travel video I’ve seen, slightly biased but just because you covered so many good viewpoints it was hard to not like it😉All drone videos yours or do you use stock clips , some pretty sweet drone work there 👍🏻

Ha! I love seeing cities from a birds eye view too (that being said I might use your recent Berlin video for some spots I haven't visited in the town where I was born). As for the drone shots I actually bought those as there are nowadays quite a few restrictions in the area of Lisbon, especially in and around the old town :)

BackPacker Steve we definitely share the view from above passion than😀Yes drone flying in cities is mostly a no-no these days but most of the clips online on stock sites probably have just been flown illegally anyway, but same here, as and when I can I love flying my drone too. Glad you found my Berlin video useful and hope you visit some of the spots in better weather than I had 👍🏻

Having lived in this Extraordinary City twice - 1996-7, and again in 2009-10... the comments about "Over-Tourism" could not be More TRUE! My first stay - Lisbon was run-down, poor, but Not Dispirited. It was still emerging from the deep slumber of the repressive Salazar dictatorship which ended in 1974. There was an explosion of creative and sensual energy running through the City's veins - especially with the Young people. I had Incredible experiences living here at that time. After returning from 12 years back in the US, I travelled back to Lisbon (2009), and despite a deep financial crisis, the City was embarking on it's current path of expansion, and renewal. In all this change... something was being Lost! That famous, Melancholic attribute the Portuguese share - "Saudades" was transmuting into typical Market-place Hedonism. In some ways the new changes were Good...Essential, but - I could feel that it was just a matter of time before Lisbon would be "Discovered" by the horde of Tourist "Vandals", who would drive prices through the roof, while suckin-dry the very things that made Portugal one of the last, truly Poetic places left in Western Europe! Do as Steve says: DO NOT stay in an Air B & B! Support the local economy, and MEET Local, Portuguese People - for they are Wonderful, Witty, Intelligent, and very Soulful! Be RESPECTFUL of the Traditions, and Aspirations of Lisbon's Culture, and People, and - Remember...YOU are in Someone else's Home! Try not to Break the China!

AirBNB is the local economy, WTF are you talking about? If I stay in the Hilton, Marriot, Intercontinental or Radisson you think that's supporting the local economy?
