I’m glad you added people of color as well, because that’s also a huge factor when it comes to safety. Usually white people are treated differently from everyone else depending on the country so it was nice to see. I’m sure I would be treated differently if I went to Ireland and Switzerland vs the Philippines or Qatar or even Italy because of my olive skin.

@latoyahill1172
4 жыл бұрын
@@chocolatecuban There were ppl standing outside of a restaurant stating what's on the menu, trying to get ppl walking by to come in. As I walked by, they would instantly be silent. This happened at a few restaurants. Another time, I was standing with a crowd of ppl at a red light, waiting to cross the street. A man poked his head through a couple of ppl to say "eww" directly in my ear. I went to a shoe shop directly across from the Trevi Fountain. An older man, I assume that he's the owner, just started fussing at me in Italian as soon as I walked in. One of the younger salesmen approached me and asked if he could help me (he was very nice). When I purchased a pair of shoes, the older woman behind the counter was giving me mean looks. These examples are just off the top of my head. I was so excited to go to Italy. But I felt SO unwelcomed. I will NEVER go back!! Beautiful buildings and art. Great history. But the ppl suck!!

I love this video but a white woman traveling to New Zealand, Ireland, Switzerland, Italy, etc, and an Asian to South Korea, and a Latina passing woman to Belize is awesome but I’d personally only take their word for the black women in this video as a BLACK woman, I know I sound pessimistic but traveling as a woman and a black woman is a whole different experience. I love all of your courage and this really inspired me. I just wanted to share that as a black woman who’s traveled a lot herself.
@Dannie7Starr

What places would you recommend?
@Samsam-vq4se
5 жыл бұрын
Dannie7Starr i honestly realized black people are hated everywhere. Even in Africa. As a black (and Muslim) woman I’ve felt the safest in Cuba, Portugal, Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore. South East Asians are so kind. The countries I’ve had the most direct and blatant disrespect because of my race was in Spain and Morocco and Taiwan. In Spain a taxi driver told me the fare was a certain price when we left and multiplied that price by 6 when I arrived at my destination. An older Spanish woman and him humiliated me in front of a very tourist area screaming me “this is Spain there are rules” and mumbled about negras and immigrants while he was shouting “you have to pay” and I’m the only black and Muslim person in the entire area what am I suppose to do? It was scary. I finally decided to put my pride aside and worry for my safety and pay this man 40 euros for an 8 minute ride that was originally negotiated to be 7 euros. It wasn’t a misunderstanding at all. They only tolerate us in stores and restaurants for business. And in Morocco I was called the N word and harassed by men. But honestly I take it all with a grain of salt. This is the reality of being a black woman. A Muslim woman. But more and more I just want to stop touring nonblack countries. Including the ones in Africa (North) I’ve met many incredible people in Morocco still and in Taiwan but Spain was just different man...

@@Samsam-vq4seI partly agree with your statement and do understand where you are coming from. Being a black woman can evoke a reaction from different people and different places but this should never deter you from travelling alone. I complete agree with Indonesia and Portugal, now I 'll take your advice and plan to venture to Thailand, Singapore and Cuba.

A little farther East Cyprus is worth a visit then take the ferry from Larnaca to Haifa in Israel. Depending on your beliefs you might wish to avoid Easter. Off most peoples list is Macao. Fun and easy to get to, fly to Hong Kong and its a simple ferry trip. There is a new road from the ferry port to the city centre. About 10 minutes.

These are some great suggestions. I live in the New England area and have also done much traveling, but only recently solo. I’d like to ad that those who want to travel and experience a totally different culture from the US that is easily accessible and muncher cheaper than the above mentioned destinations, look no further than Quebec, Canada. I have been there twice and I feel like there is so much more to explore. First off, Canadians are very friendly by nature, and if you can’t speak any French, but at least make an effort to say Bon jour or merci, you will be met with the utmost respect ( most speak English in the urban areas). Montreal and Quebec City both have their modern areas, but when you go into the Vieux Carre, or Old city areas, it is like stepping into a a quaint European city with tons of history. Also, for nature lovers, there is skiing in the Winter, whales in the Summertime; for a couple examples....there is just too much to mention all in this brief comment; you have to go and google this amazing area. Did I mention, the US dollar is worth a bit more than the Canadian dollar.... but for how long? Also, I believe you can cross the border with a pass card which is easier to get than the traditional passport. So go on and explore. Your very welcome 😊❤️

The thing is, solo travel doesn’t mean you always be alone! I went to Vietnam by myself and that was one of the best trips I’ve ever done! I met so many wonderful people there❤️ You and other female travel KZitemrs inspired me for sure so I hope girls out there watch this video and travel solo✈️

That's true that you're not alone even though traveling solo. If you stay in a hostel you're always surrounded by other people, and most of them are solo travelers as well. I have been away on my solo trip for 2 weeks now and I'm never alone, there's always people that wants to hang out or do something. I love it!
