Hi there! I'm a new subscriber and I wanted to share with you that I love how calm and relaxing your videos are! Your ideas for less screen time were perfect. I am definitely in a ciliary spasm as I've been spending sooo much time looking at screens, it's unbelievable. Wishing everyday that i could start normal activities soon.....

Hi Gemily, Having done this work, for years, I do have these suggestion: 1) Get a Snellen, with bright light, and consistently read it. Yes - it is blurry. With -2 D, you SHOULD be close to reading 20/60, or 1, inch letters at 20 feet. No need to report - if you wish. But getting an AVERAGE, object reading, over days, please post. Good discussions can develop if you do this. I do it. Include Snellen reading - as part of your schedule. Be OBJECTIVE with your Snellen. No OD can ever do that for you! Consistent 20/60, is success at this point. Let us know. I have 20/20. I use a prevention plus, at this point. I measure my own refraction - of necessity. I am an Electrical Engineer. Be brave and bold!

Thank you so much for you comment. I admit, it has taken me a while to understand how to benefit from a Snellen. But we have recently change our rooms around an now I have a great space to put one, so I have put one up and will be using it this coming week to assess how my ciliary spasm release if going. Please feel free to share you knowledge. I am new to the Snellen chart game. Thanks so much for watching and commenting. ❤️ I really appreciate your input and encouragement.

Hey, Gemily. Thanks for this video :) I just started Endmyopia too (about a month ago), and I found myself feeling a bit bummed that the pandemic hit followed by a lockdown just as I was getting started. These are great tips! I'm excited to follow you on your journey. Have you ordered differential glasses yet? I'm curious if you have, and if so, how are they working out for you? Stay safe and happy :)

Welcome to the EndMyopia life! Haha. Yeah, I have differentials. Jake says to get differentials first, and use them for 4-6 weeks before getting your first pair of normalised (information which I discovered - or at least which registered - after I had already jumped in with my normalised). My differentials are working out so so well for me. They are about 1.25 diopters below my normalised (I got 1.5 diopters below my full prescription when I started for my differentials, and 0.25 diopters below my full prescription for my normalised). Have you got any differentials or normalised glasses yet?

@@GemilyMez Thank you!! ;) haha. Nice. That's awesome to hear. I'm in the process right now of getting them, but I'm in a weird spot where I'm not 100% sure what my current prescription is for the glasses I'm wearing (and I'm going in to the eye doctor on Monday to see if they'll scan my lenses to tell me). The best guess I have is a prescription that's 2 years old and technically "expired" (or so my doctor says). That prescription is also different from the centimeter measurements I've been getting for my eyes, and the ratio between left and right eye is different. So, after Monday (fingers crossed), I'll hopefully get a definitive answer and can get them ordered! :)

@@malnr90 Yes! When I started this journey I had NO idea what my prescription was. I just knew there was a 3 in it somewhere. I phoned the two optometrists where I had gotten my last two pairs of glasses - I went to SpecSavers about 5 years ago (so, approximately 4 years beforehand) and they gave me my numbers no problem. Then I called my lovely local independant optometrist who I had specifically chosen to support when I had a job with money (and could avoid el cheapo specsavers), and they said I was lucky, as my prescription was about the expire, and after that they would not be able to release it to me. As it was, the receptionist had to get the opto to sign off on something to release the numbers to me before calling my back with them... I was a bit put off by the idea that if I had called a few weeks later they would not have told me even what the strength of the glasses on my face actually were... I feel like I have a right to that information. So, bitterly disappointed in my opto, who I had supported intentionally because it wasn't a huge multinational company. :( As a result, I haven't even given them the chance to be supportive of my journey. Online glasses for me. Hurts a bit, as I love to support local, but that interaction made me feel very... suspicious. Did you appointment on Monday help clarify things? Did the results seem similar to your own measurements?

@@GemilyMez Ah, that was a similar experience with me! My own eye doctor's office wouldn't tell me the prescription at first because it was "expired", but then I persuaded them when I told them that I don't have a back up pair of glasses at home (which is actually true), so they were willing to not only show me the prescription but also use it to order a back up pair for me....but that is very frustrating that they are normally not allowed to give you that information. I suppose they made an exception in my case only because I wanted to have an emergency pair of glasses on hand, but that shouldn't have to be the case. While they ordered a back up pair for me (which was not cheap, and I am going to probably order most of my differentials and normalized online from here on out), they scanned my current lenses to tell me what they are. It turns out that they matched the latest prescription that was on file, so now I know where I'm at. :) Right eye is -4.5 and left is -3.5 + 0.5 cyl astigmatism correction. So I'm actually about to order my differentials. Hopefully today even! :D

I am new to endmyopia and haven’t found AF yet. I’m probably overthinking but would I wear by close up or regular glasses (almost full correction not normalised) while doing all these hobbies? I.e. working out, puzzles, badminton, meditation etc. Suggestions??? For screen time I usually take 20-40 minute breaks and put on my regular glasses and stare into the distance and foam roll my back.

Jake says that if you are changing your focus, like your eyes are not static (as with a screen), that you can keep your normalised on. Even with a puzzle, where you focus changes as you glance around at pieces close and then further away. If differentials are comfortable though, there's no rule you can't use them, just as long as there's only a little bit of blur challenge, not lots. I am confused why you would be wearing 'almost full correction' but 'not normalised' - normalised is usually only one or maybe two steps below full correction anyway.

Gemily Mez I haven’t found AF yet, so I am wearing my regular glasses which I have been wearing for years and are undercorrected by over 1 diopter in one eye and just under 1 diopter in the other eye...
@prmsolver

Gemily Mez also thought we weren’t meant to get normalised before finding AF
@GemilyMez

@@prmsolver Oh, perhaps. I don't remember coming across that piece of information, but there is so much info that it is quite possible you came across something I have missed. AF can be quite a journey as you work out what it is, and change your mind, etc... How are you undercorrected by about a diopter in each eye, yet be waiting until after you find AF before getting your normalised? Normalised are only usually an undercorrection of -0.25 or maybe -0.5. Sounds like you are regularly wearing glasses already that are somewhere between the recommendation for normalised and for differential....

@@GemilyMez Yes, I wore the same under-corrected glasses for about 3+ years.

Perfect timing then! Yeah, having to study so much does make it a challenge. But it's a great moment to learn how to take care of your eyes so that if you have more study, you'll know how not to make your vision worse.

can endmyopia cause eye floaters and how to manage it
@otiebrown9999

No, EndMyopia.org does not cause Floaters. But if you have a fear - do not do it.
@GemilyMez

My impression is that if you are doing EndMyopia, you are more likely to notice floaters that were already there, and you are just more aware of what is happening with your vision in general. Floaters are normally not dangerous, but if you are worried, you can see an optometrist or ophthalmologist - they will be able to tell you if there are any underlying problems.
