I saw Tina many times in the 1960's and 70's when she and Ike had the Ike and Tina Turner Revue with four backup singers and dancers known as the Ikettes. They operated out of St. Louis Mo. at the time and were extremely popular on both sides of the Mississippi River during their early years before national acclaim, There was a locally famous ballroom in the small town of Benld IL known as the Coliseum Ballroom It was built in 1924 and had the biggest dance floor between Chicago and St. Louis at 5,000 sq feet. All of the famous Big Bands played there from the 20s to the late 50' until rock and roll took precedence and some of the hottest groups and single artists got their early bookings or made comeback appearences at the Coliseum. The place was cozy and you could get up and talk to the performers as the stage was only about three feet off the dance floor and there was no "green room" for them at the break, just some reserved tables and that's how I was invited by Tina to sit down with her and the girls and share a drink with them. I was 18 or 19 at the time and I was speechless. Turned out that Ike knew my brother in law who was in the music business selling instruments and amps and told Ike I would be there and describing me so he gave Tina a heads up when he saw me. It was a memory I have cherished since then and I am 74. You can see posts here on KZitem about the great history of the Coliseum from it's founding in 1924 to the fire that destroyed in 2011 together with lots of pictures of the stars and bands of the Big Band Era and the legends of Rock and Roll including Fats Domino, Chuck Berry, Bo Diddley, Johnny Rivers, Wilson Pickett, Sam the Sham and the Pharoahs, Joe Tex, and many more. .

Alan Arkin,- As Yossarian (YoYo) "Catch 22". The character of Yossarian is a 28-year-old captain in the 256th Squadron of the Army Air Forces where he serves as a B-25 bombardier stationed on the small island of Pianosa off the Italian mainland during World War II. In actuality B-25 bombardiers also doubled as navigators thus held the nickname "Bombigator". A great anti- war movie with a superb cast.

I'm 77 & watched the careers of nearly all of those deceased, since they started, (even met one,i.e. Pat Cooper!) When a great actor dies at an older, appropriate age, we grieve but understand! But, when we lose them, still in their prime, i.e. Treat Williams, Julian Sands, Ray Stevenson, Ray Batayeh, Samantha Weinstein, etc., it's a "Life Unfinished"! p.s Even at age 89. I was shocked to hear of Alan Arkin's passing! Great Actor! R,I,P, et al!
