Potato's and oats for sure even with my active lifestyle can cause issues. Potato's even when I was doing keto I had to do in moderation. Oats during keto I cut entirely because after one portion my glucose would be sky high for 3-4 days. Rice and wheat if unfermented cause issues as do beans and most legumes. Rice and wheat trigger my eczema and beans/most legumes trigger my ibsd. Though if I make natto or tempeh or even sourdough bread from beans I don't have a issue and sourdough that is low gluten or gluten free made with oats and or rice and beans flour with or without wheat flour actually allow these foods and a complete plant protein on top of the animal sources while helping my digestion and not fkareing my eczema. I'm still perfecting my low gluten and gluten free sourdough since I'm having some trouble with it holding together and rising/baking properly. I'm thinking of adding ground chia or flax to help with that. Yogurt and several things on this list are major staples in my home. Cabbage I can't eat unless fermented. Ibsd trigger big-time.same with most leafy greens. I even make a sugar free fermented coke slaw if I want that. I've got one variation that uses a vinegrette that's more tart and one using mayo and live culture fermented of some kind and things like stevia in place of sugar. Fruit, even high carb fruit seem to be a non issue though with high carb ones moderation is key. Food lists for longevity do need to be personalized based on one's health issues and needs. He's talking lean ground beef. That's nice and all but it's expensive. Its out of my price range for the lean stuff. If I want beef cheap I go for beef heart or beef kidney and season and coos like steak or make into jerky. Btw that's leaner than sirlion or chuck.

You erroneously conclude leaner people live longer. name one centenarian under 10% body fat. just one...Ill be waiting.....for ev er. Now that said people with excessive fat % have increased all cause mortality that is definitely true. There is a sweet spot for human optimal health and sub 10% BF ain't it brother especially in Women. BF% for longevity and muscle mass % for longevity need more research to pinpoint. But there are no healthy 100 year olds with under 10% BF I would bet my life that having a little extra energy stored as fat has helped them weather any illnesses they have had while recovering. Especially if its a gastrointestinal illness.

Like seriously "Don't put butter on your potatoes" and "don't eat the skin on the chicken" are extreme...not everyone wants to walk around w an 8 pack like a fitness model. Dr. Anthony Chaffee, Shawn Baker, all these other guys you've interviewed, they eat fatty meat all the time and actually recommend it over lean protein. Think about it you want to eat like it comes in its natural form the fat goes along with the protein when you cut out the fat you know this damn well the leaner the protein the higher insulin Spike you get. And for people with IBS and other autoimmune issues you know that fat for example butter could be extremely helpful...

People in the fitness industry are overly obsessed with being lean. Of course a lot of people would benefit from losing weight, but being in the 10-15% range seems great for most guys. When you get down to 6-8% it starts affecting your hormones, energy levels, mood, muscle mass, and overall quality of life (it’s just not fun walking around slightly hungry and having to watch how many calories you eat all the time). I’m at around 10-12% and that’s perfect for me. I eat 90%+ whole foods, but I’m not completely religious about it. I love the foods I eat and my diet is sustainable for life. Just curious, don't any of your guests who talk about what they eat, ever eat ANYTHING non "perfect" or non "ideally nutritious"? Like they NEVER have even a slice of pizza, or a hot dog at a ball game, or heaven forbid an ice cream cone with their kids on a hot summer day? Ever? If they would actually admit this it would make them so much more relatable, and respected than always trying to come across as being "perfect" or people needing to always being perfect on order to live long, or be in good shape. At least have them say, "I do enjoy the occasional treat oncevin a while. I am human after all." (If that is the case.)

@ronburgandy7571 But that's my point. If his guests would admit that they do have the OCCASIONAL "treat" - or even Thomas himself - it would make them far more relatable to I'm guessing MOST of his viewers who would see and realize that you don't need to ALWAYS be perfect, and can enjoy some "non perfect" foods once in a while, and still maintain a very healthy lifestyle, and amazing shape. That they're not always practically analy obsessed with eating perfectly 24/7/365(6) like some robot. It would probably garner them even more admiration and respect that they show they allow themselves the occasional non perfect food(s), but have the discipline, willpower, and fortitude to make those things ONCE IN A BLUE MOON EXCEPTIONS RATHER THAN REGULARLY OCCURRING RULES. Great examples to follow. Rather than coming across as iron fisted "dictators" telling us we must NEVER eat anything even remotely "unperfect" OR ELSE!!! It would make them more "realistic" and relatable.
@jasonhurst8599
3 күн бұрын
@OrlyStudios Not really. Yes they taste great, but they're still healthy and nutritious. There's nothing wrong with admitting that they don't ALWAYS eat perfectly. NOBODY'S perfect. It would probably earn or garner them even more praise and respect for admitting that they're not always perfect. Even Thomas admits he enjoys the occasional Ribeye. So why not talk about that more? Or about things he enjoys when going to Disneyland with his family? To show us we CAN still enjoy these types of foods, but not every day, and show us how to incorporate them into a healthy, long, lifestyle. As he obviously does. His image is not going to be tarnished, but rather likely be enhanced by the fact he admits he isn't always perfect yet has the discipline to maintain self control at all times. He knows what his limits are (or his guests do), and he/they maintain control. NOT those foods.

### Key Takeaways: 15 Foods to Eat to Get Under 8% Body Fat (and Stay Lean Forever) - Marcus Filly’s Daily Diet In this comprehensive breakdown, Marcus Filly discusses his top 15 go-to foods that help him maintain a lean physique while supporting longevity and athletic performance. His focus on whole, minimally processed foods serves as a roadmap for anyone looking to stay lean, healthy, and perform at their best. Below are the key takeaways from his dietary choices: ### 1. **Oatmeal** Oatmeal is a foundational food in Filly’s diet. It provides slow-digesting carbohydrates that fuel his workouts and help keep him full. Filly appreciates oatmeal's affordability, accessibility, and its ability to pair well with protein-rich foods like whey protein. It's a staple that offers long-lasting energy. ### 2. **Whey Protein** Whey protein is Filly’s go-to protein source. As a highly digestible and complete protein, it aids in muscle recovery and growth, which are essential for athletes. He emphasizes its convenience and refers to it as an “ultra-processed whole food,” underlining its importance as a reliable protein source throughout the day. ### 3. **Potatoes (Sweet, Red, and White)** Potatoes provide clean carbohydrates that fuel Filly’s training. After transitioning from a low-carb diet, he found that incorporating potatoes gave him sustained energy and improved performance. They are filling, versatile, and provide key nutrients, making them a staple in his diet. ### 4. **Whole Eggs** Whole eggs deliver a complete package of protein and healthy fats. Filly highlights the benefits of eating the yolk for its micronutrients and satiety factor. Whether boiled, scrambled, or poached, eggs are a versatile protein source that also offer important vitamins and minerals. ### 5. **Berries** Berries, particularly frozen varieties, offer an affordable and nutrient-dense source of fiber and antioxidants. Filly consumes a large portion daily, mixing them with yogurt or oatmeal. Berries are low in calories and carbohydrates but rich in fiber, making them an ideal choice for maintaining a lean body composition. ### 6. **Rice** Rice, particularly white rice, is a preferred carbohydrate for Filly post-workout. It’s easy to digest, helps replenish glycogen stores, and supports recovery. Rice is also versatile and a staple in many athletes' diets due to its simplicity and compatibility with protein-rich foods like chicken. ### 7. **Chicken (Breast and Thighs)** Chicken breast, being lean and high in protein, is Filly’s choice when he wants a low-fat, high-protein meal. It’s a staple in bodybuilding circles for a reason-it's easy to prepare, calorie-controlled, and provides essential amino acids without excess fats. ### 8. **Chickpeas** Chickpeas and other legumes offer a plant-based source of protein and fiber, promoting gut health. Filly incorporates chickpeas into salads or as hummus, highlighting their versatility and their ability to support digestion through their high fiber content. ### 9. **Greek Yogurt** Greek yogurt provides a high-protein, probiotic-rich food option. Whether full-fat or non-fat, it supports gut health and provides an accessible source of dairy-based protein. Greek yogurt’s versatility and rich nutrient profile make it a staple in Filly’s daily routine. ### 10. **Cabbage (Fermented and Fresh)** Cabbage, both fresh and fermented (like sauerkraut or kimchi), adds fiber and bulk to meals without many calories. Filly emphasizes cabbage’s role in satiety and gut health, often adding it to salads or stir-fries for extra volume and micronutrients. ### 11. **Bananas and Oranges** Bananas and oranges are Filly’s go-to “grab-and-go” fruits. These fruits are convenient, affordable, and widely available, making them easy choices for quick snacks. They offer essential vitamins, potassium, and natural carbohydrates, which are key for energy throughout the day. ### 12. **Lean Ground Beef** Lean ground beef, particularly 93% or 96% lean, provides a high-protein, low-fat option in Filly’s diet. It delivers a full spectrum of amino acids and connective tissue that support muscle repair and overall health. Ground beef’s versatility makes it a regular feature in his meals. ### 13. **Olive Oil** Olive oil is Filly’s preferred fat source due to its known health benefits, particularly for cardiovascular health. He adds it sparingly, noting that while fat is important, it's essential to control fat intake to maintain a lean physique. Olive oil is rich in healthy monounsaturated fats that support long-term health. ### 14. **Avocado** Avocados are a unique food that combines healthy fats with fiber. Filly enjoys the texture and satiating qualities of avocados, and their ability to provide lasting energy without excessive calories. Their versatility allows them to fit into various meals, making them a valued addition to his diet. ### 15. **Longevity Through Nutrition** The core theme running through Filly’s list of 15 foods is longevity. He believes that maintaining a lean physique, supported by whole, nutrient-dense foods, is essential for long-term health and athletic performance. Each food is carefully chosen for its ability to fuel his lifestyle while also keeping calories and fat intake in check. --- ### Conclusion Marcus Filly’s approach to nutrition reflects a deep understanding of how food fuels both athletic performance and long-term health. His 15 essential foods are carefully selected for their nutrient density, convenience, and ability to promote a lean, active body. By focusing on whole, minimally processed foods, Filly ensures that his diet is sustainable, affordable, and versatile. His dietary philosophy not only supports fat loss but also aligns with the broader goal of longevity, proving that a diet rich in real, nutrient-dense foods is the key to staying lean and healthy for life. Filly’s approach serves as a practical guide for anyone looking to improve their diet, optimize performance, and enhance overall well-being. His message is clear: longevity and fat loss are interconnected, and by making smart food choices, you can achieve both without sacrificing taste or satisfaction.

For me that would be too many carbs. I wonder if Marcus was every fat and how many hours is he working out each day to maintain a low fat body with all those carbs?

I only eat oats straight after training and do baked oats with protein. Because I make it high protein it keeps me going. I then drop the carbs to nothing through the day. This works for me and I find it easier to have carbs around my training and minimal when I’m not

I began investing in stocks and Def earlier this year, and it is the best choice l've ever made. My portfolio is rounding up to almost a million and I have realized that when a stock makes it to the news, chances are you're quite late to the party, the idea is to get in early on blue chips before it becomes public. There are lots of life changing opportunities in the market, and maximize it.

Happy to hear this guy mention most of my staples in my diet 😂. Not in love with the preference toward leaner meats and all the carbs but he is an athlete. His job is working out for most of the day. For the average person who has to squeeze workouts into their busy lives, I think eating that much carbs and little fat can slow you down.

Eggs are actually great because you don't even have to like cook them on the stove with oil I just microwaved my scrambled eggs and sometimes even add a scoop of whey protein directly to them makes them creamy like they have cheese in them it's delicious

What am I supposed to do, fight with everyone that doesn’t eat like me? Is that what you expect me to do? I can have opinions and my own style of eating without bashing what works for other people. “Hey CrossFit games athlete with incredible fitness abilities and great physique. You don’t eat like me, so you’re officially worse than me and I’m going to fight you to prove it.” What a shame dude. A shame.

The problem with turning a potato into fries (even accounting for the air fryer and avocado oil) is it's going to taste so darn good. Therefore, I'll eat more. The bland baked potato is easier for me to stop over-eating. Also, it's a portion size. The willpower it takes to not grab a few extra fries from the basket is too much for me personally.

29:00 ... If he likes olive oil, why doesn't he cook his eggs in it ? You can fry with olive oil just fine so long as you respect the lower smoking point.
@StarTraffic-z1o

You can cook with extra virgin olive oil in high heat by it self or with butter added, but you should avoid frying any food. Put the oil and season in pot with some water and cook it that way instead of frying the season before you put in the meat. Frying is not good for a healthy living.
