I feel like whims could actually add so mush to the game if they were more personality based. Bc there's actually so many things to do in the sims, but I don't know maybe 60% of them, bc they are never mentioned anywhere, I don't even know that they exist. And also, if sims would have more autonomy and would complete these whims by themselves. I don't think it's really that much to ask

One thing I noticed about firefighters is that the game doesn’t properly tag them as Employees like other NPCs. I usually play with my doors locked for Everyone but Household and allow employees. It took me way too long to figure out why they wouldn’t go inside. It ridiculous that they didn’t tag them as employees, even Tina Tinker gets temporarily tagged as an employee when she wants in to fix things so she can get passed doors. If you want a Sim to be an artist/painter, I recommend getting them a Digital Sketch Pad and keep it in their inventory. It makes painting pictures like 3 times faster when you upgrade the performance of it. Like, you can pause the time on your game; queue up 6 paintings, and have your Sim do all of them in no time. Once your Sim completes them, the paintings go right into their inventory. If you combine this with a lot-trait that makes Sims gain artistic skills faster, you could easily max out your Sim's painting skill in no time. Plus, it's also a great way for earning money really fast as well as make them pretty famous if you have the Get Famous pack installed. Like, in about a day's time, my Sim was able to make 20+ large paintings. It cost my Sim $100 to make each painting but then I was able to hang them all up on a wall and sell them to a collector for $200-$300+ each as well as gained fame for each one I sold. You can easily make a lot of money because once your Sim's painting skill is up high enough, they have a chance to make "Masterpiece" quality paintings which are super rare and can sell for the most money. One morning before work, I had my Sim paint 6 Large Classic paintings. It cost me $600 to make them in total. 2 of them came out as Masterpiece quality which sold for $1,500 - $1,800 a piece...not to mention the rest each sold for a couple hundred each. Just off a half dozen paintings, my Sim made like $3,000+ and that was before they even went to work that day.

I feel like being able to lock doors for house hold sims would be a mentionable tip. I was able to have my sim parents have a private bathroom from their 5 children, and keep out neighbors that come in and break things. And being able to keep toddlers wrangled to one part of a house is a lovely baby gate type mechanic. You can lock off the kitchen and keep your kids from eating the birthday cake out of the fridge or wasting time with pb and j. You can lock a kid in their room with their skill building stuff to keep them from being distracted by common area tasks like sims chatting while eating. And locking the computers to keep the kids off the household money making device is also 👌 if you're an author. Forreal. Door and device locking. Another tip: I use the wabbit tablet to get toddlers their thinking skill first.... it is expensive and can be overlooked in a huge selection of options with a lot of expansions that focus on young sims, but it is totally worth it. Toddler is tired of blocks but needs movement or thinking? Tablet. Toddler needs communication, but parents and siblings are busy building their own skills? Tablet. Toddler needs imagination skill, but you had to sell all their toys to get the tablet? Tablet.

I have played The Sims franchise for most of the past 20 years. I literally bought the first ever game the day it came out, and just played TS2 [not 3 or 4, or the first one either] since 2005 or so. Well.... 2020 has me not bartending anymore [for now], so a friend told me about Steam's massive TS4 Black Friday-Cyber Monday sale, and I finally caved and picked it up [along with Seasons, City Living, Get Together, Battu, and a handful of stuff packs {prices were incredibly low}]. Some other Simmer's videos have been helpful, but this one has been invaluable. There are quite a few things I picked up on my own, or thru game tips, but I enjoyed Taylorsarus' video most of all. She has a very down to earth demeanor and presentation that seems absent from most other Sim-tips vids I've watched this afternoon. I've subscribed and plan on keeping up with the new stuff she produces, I'm sure it'll help me get better acquainted with TS4 a LOT more quickly than my blind baptism-by-fire approach thus far. Thanks so much for sharing your tips with us! I mean, at 36 years old and not much of a gamer, this and TS2 are literally the only two games I play anymore! I'm a goal-oriented Simmer myself, and trying to establish a Simblr [shameless self promotion: @simematography Tumblr] so this has really given me a leg up on the past five years or so of TS4 development. From everything I've heard about the vanilla base game, I am glad I waited! Can't wait to watch "How NOT to get bored with TS4"! Thanks, Taylorsarus!! Keep on truckin!

I'd be cautious about buying rewards reduce or remove needs. Yes, they absolutely give the sim more time and make them easier to manage. However, in my experience, they can quickly become boring. If I'm doing a legacy challenge, I often only play one sim and let the others being managed by the AI. I will buy needs reduction rewards for the older (and more satisfied) sims I'm not playing.

Also, if you add an extinguisher on a wall outside or inside. Your sim will immediately use that to put the fire out faster than if you depend on just the smoke detector and fire alarm pack that's usually found outside.

You stopped making videos 😢but now there’s infants and you could make videos about how to raise them well. Also we need to know if the new expansion pack is fun or annoying with all the options for babies! Your videos are clear and give great information.

I have to say, the fact that you didn’t have like some ridiculous intro with trap music and overdone graphics is a first for me with video game tip videos on yt. Thank you.

Use as many hashtags as you can to describe your masterpiece. Like for a family I would say #married #husband #wife #toddler etc etc maybe even throw their traits into a hash tag

Lovin the earbuds. From watching your baby challenge. Helpful when they don't have time to get their fun up.

I think that is better to give them the friends of the world aspiration first, because it requires your sims to introduce themselves to 10 other sims and sims that they already know don't count, then if you are planning for a long life, master chef will make food that doesn't spoil, fabulous wealthy will give you 5% interest on your funds each week, serial romantic will let you have several couples and jealousy is deactivated, what else may you want?

I played Sims 4 from the start and the whims just disappeared it kinda made me sad, I didn't know you can bring them back! I usually deleted the whims not fitting for my personality gameplay and kept the ones I think were fitting to my sim. I like that the whims are emotion based and I liked the whims for specific food because I know that feeling too well! I think there were more things new to me but I forgot because I was so shocked about the whims 🙈 Ahhh the debating skill and earbuds for university really could save my game as I find it so annoying how long all of that stuff takes and how little free time they have left, even with just 3 courses instead of 4. Thank you very much :)

To slim down quickly, buy an ice cream machine and if you have cooking level 4, you can make Taste of Diet which slims them down in no time.
