When she sang falling in love again, it literally put me in goosebumps and tears! I really love that song but the music and the way she sang it makes me so emotional! I really miss marlene dietrich! Marlene forever! Xoxo! ♥

I saw her on the American tour she did in the mid-70s and it is one of the great theatrical memories of my life. She created a separate world around her on the stage and then invited you in to share it with her. It was spectacular.

Maria Riva was unstinting in her disdain for the Kraft special from which this was excerpted; and, I believe, utterly wrong. These are valedictory performances that display full-on the unique and startling range of expression and illusion that Dietrich could summon. I saw her perform, alas, at the end, when her gifts had faded and failed, and the the illusion didn't even qualify as a magic trick. But here is the ageless enchantress. Thank you so much for putting this up.

I loved Maria's book and believe that there was much truth in it. She probably was a bad mother but I keep hearing people say how she attacked her mother and I suspect she did vent het anger out in the book. It must be hard to be the daughter of a beautiful world famous star

This is an example of how style blinds people from seeing the reality of Dietrich's horrendous singing. As Judy Garland said, Marlene Dietrich is one of our worse singers…. Lol. But boy was she stylish-like a fancy storefront in Beverly Hills that sells mediocre products….
@dianemcnaron8801

Dietrich was not a singer, she was a diseuse -- a portrayer of the emotional landscape of a song. Her hundreds of albums and hit songs, dating back to the pre-Nazi Berlin best selling, "Peter," attest to the interpretive power of her genre. Check the Garland quote, I believe you are misquoting her.

After reading part of her daughter's book, I have no respect for Marlene. I was so disgusted, I threw it away. A self centered, demanding vixen that made it all look good on stage.

Sounds the same formula of Joan Crawford's daugther. Sell books to get money by telling trash. No respect.
