This has nothing to do with education. These are signs of low emotional intelligence, and high narcissism. I've known plenty of educated people with these traits, and plenty of comparatively uneducated people who are not like this at all. Lack of education is not the reason for it, perhaps a lack of solid parenting, poor socialization, and insecurity. I knew a highly educated man with almost all of these traits. He was the most insecure person I'd ever dealt with, very likely due to childhood verbal abuse. He became highly narcissistic in behavior as a way to cope with that insecurity.

“Never look down on others.” It’s amazing what happens when people expect you to look down on them and you don’t. I was a physician and many years ago went on a field trip with my then-wife (a special education teacher in a bad New York City neighborhood) and her class and several other classes. I treated these children with respect and got along well with everyone, thinking nothing unusual. Later, I learned that teachers marveled at my ability to get along with them and to, with no threats at all, keep order.

This would depend on how you define what educated is. See google defines "educated" as having a good education and webster just defines it as having education. Education is where this would differ. Education is defined as a systematic instruction one receives or an enlightened experience. Some people can have both or none but most of us would relate with one over the other. There are plenty of people with high degrees who can check off every one of these items. There are also people with nothing more than a high school diploma that are more well informed than those that went to college. The way i see is that this video is just a wild generalization and no one should be put in a box as people tend to surprise you with their knowledge more often than not.

One of the top signs of a poorly educated person is poor language skills. The play/movie, “Pygmalion” / “My Fair Lady” is a brilliant example. The alteration of accent by the focal character instantly catapults her from the lowest class and least educated to high society. Within seconds of communicating with an individual, their status in the social hierarchy is made apparent. It is not just accent that reveals education, but grammar and word usage as well. A highly educated person rarely utilizes curse words, but instead selects from a wide-range of mastered vocabulary to express their ideas. This is where ALUX writers could work to improve their excellent videos, by avoiding vulgarities. The vast majority of viewers are not aware of this faux pas, however higher-class or more educated viewers are.

I guess the principle of these - very general and more entertaining than educational - videos is, that the boxes you check the more critical it gets. Also, this idea precludes the fact that some people's choices NEED to be judged. The simple fact of the matter is that most people don't want to be judged, because they don't want to be held accountable. There ARE good behaviors and choices, and bad ones. Perhaps a present difficulty with our society, et al. is that many people feel not only should their actions NOT be judged, but rather others should condone them.

I generally find it is the other way round, and if you try to explain a misunderstood concept the person who understands it the least will talk slowly and explain it incorrectly again, because you obviously don't understand. I once worked with a highly educated individual (PhD) who refused to put in much effort in his job. His favorite thing to say was, "They don't pay me enough to do this." He drifted from one job to another and really never was successful in anything, because he felt he was always underappreciated. He never seemed to figure out that you work up to the level you feel you need to be by working hard. He expected to start at the top because he perceived himself as always the smartest person in the room. And if his manager had the audacity to correct his work, he would sulk all day and be uncooperative. It's hard to work with someone like this because everyone else has to pick up the slack. And gets resentful.

Well done , this is a brilliant piece here and dovetails with a lot of similar thoughts and observations i have been pondering lately . However these are the 15 SIGNS of insecurity , low emotional intelligence, self absorption and a lack of self awareness etc. Poorly educated has very little to do with it . There are plenty of people who punch above their weight by making the right decisions more often than not through having self awareness and a thirst to learn and improve . Then there are academically bright , educated adults with degrees who have the emotional intelligence of early teens . They inadvertently get in the way of themselves and make life harder than it needs to be . In my humble opinion , self awareness is the touchstone that people need to reach in order to propel themselves forward , onward and upward . Self awareness coupled with being on top of things in an organisational sense are 2 very strong traits to give one thrust . Obviously acting on a dream/ vision or a plan can act as a magnet to pull you forward as well. It seems to me that your greatest Ally in this life and your biggest Adversary are one and the same - yourself . Recognise both .

I found the educated versus uneducated points interesting. I was surprised to see many examples of what I refer to as a "social handicap", though. I am surrounded by narcissistic; self-absorbed; boorish; shameless self-promoters. With each passing year, I am introduced to more and more TERRIBLE LISTENERS. So many people never shut up and constantly cut me off in mid-sentence. Not to mention the fact that they do not possess the capacity to absorb anything that I say (mostly because they were never really listening in the first place). Albeit, they were busy waiting for any opportunity to disregard and dismiss me so they can 'change horses in mid-stream' and get back to the senseless blather that permeates their mind. If I mention to someone that they have this annoying tick and utter disconnect, they sometimes fall back on ADD or ADHD as an excuse. Yes. It is a disorder; a psychosis; and a neurosis. Simply calling it ADD is ridiculous, though. Person 1#: "Why are you such an ass-hole?". Person #2: "I'm Bi-Polar...". Person #1: "OK. That's possible. It has nothing to do with what I'm asking you, though. Now I am asking you again: Why are you such an ass-hole?!!".
