One of my favorite tips is you only need one silo and one silo period.. granted it only holds 250 pieces of hay etc.. but once you unlock the silo and get yourself a coop.. you can place a chest in your coop and then empty your silo viva the hay shoot.. then place the hay into the the chest.. go out harvest the grass to make hay fill the silo.. granted this only works until you have a max level barn/coop aka the auto feeder sorta ruins your ability to access the hay shoot.

My best tip which I've not seen - it's a faff but 100% worth it; 3 cabins have the same footprint as 2 sheds. They have 3x the floor space of a big shed and a cellar each at max upgrade. If you have the resources, 1 person can upgrade all 3 in a day with time to upgrade your barns at the same time (they don't use a Robin build slot). Once they're max level that's 500 casks, 300 kegs, 100 crystalariums, 50 furnaces 20 bone presses, and space for loads and loads more and leaves your farmhouse completely free to decorate - and no sheds! Wine alone is 10 mil a year once you have greenhouse and cabins! Oh... And put cheese presses, mayo churns and looms in your coops. Lastly iridium wool sells for more than cloth and iridium truffles even with artisan perk (iridium is guaranteed with forager perk now that hardwood is renewable)

Bug meat should be used for making fishing bait. 1 meat = 5 bait = up to 5 fish to sell or eat. It works out a lot better than 10 meat for 1 meal and levels your fishing skill too. The only reason not to turn bug meat into bait is if you simply don't want to fish. You will need to get a few levels in fishing to buy the rod that allows bait to be used, but I think it is definitely worth it to do so.

Getting down to the lower levels of the mine early is essential for getting quality sprinklers which makes your farming capacity only limited by the number of sprinklers you have. Not spending the energy watering things essentially increases your energy capacity by 40%-60% depending on how much you're growing, so there's nothing better except for stardrops and salmonberries when it comes to net energy increase than sprinklers. For that reason, eating the bug meat to get down faster is way better than making it into bait, especially if you don't have the fiberglass rod yet, anyway. But once you get down to floor 80, yeah, it's never worth it to make bug steaks again.
@Sassgardian21
9 ай бұрын
@@QuesoCookies If you hardcore work your foraging skill up to lvl 4 by the 15th of spring and then collect the entire salmonberry season harvest every day, you'll end up with a surplus of salmonberries in the hundreds, which can easily last you through to fall, when you'll repeat the process for blackberries with the added bonus of a higher foraging skill and potentially even the ability to harvest all foragables at iridium quality. Which would mean you end up needing them far fewer because they're much higher in stamina and health gains. By the 18th of spring, following this method, you should have no need for bug steaks. That method aside, fishing is often a way of getting the ores from deeper in the mines before actually reaching the deeper levels. It's quite common to fish up geodes containing ores and gemstones as well a ores and even bars as well.

If you're running the river farm like in your video, crab pots are amazing, especially when you get the profession that makes them significantly cheaper to craft, and eventually require no bait. I have infinite food all year round, as you can make several recipes with fish, sashimi being the obvious easy pick, which you unlock by befriending Linus. Setup some recycling bins, and you'll have more refined quartz than you know what to do with (I consider refined quartz a trash item, I have so many). Refined quartz is a great stone/wood substitute for making pathways on the farm, once you have the crystal pathway recipe unlocked. Recycling trash you get from crab pots is also a great way to get supplemental coal, iron, and cloth. You'll also have more torches than you know what to do with. I used them to light paths around town early game, and now, I just sell them. They're basically worth nothing, but it beats throwing them away. Early game, that little extra income can be useful. People trash-talk the river farm, but I like it. Besides, if I want to plant a lot of crops, I just do that on Ginger Island, which is basically a massive outdoor greenhouse. I use the river farm as a fishery/ranch, and the island farm as my crop farm. Well, I also use the river farm for tree farming in the SW corner.

I never use the initial 500 on seeds, I plant my parsnips to use as food or gifts, then fish for most of the first week (except for a trip into the mines around day 5-6 (most often 6 so I can use the first travelling merchant day to forage and do errands in town). I tend to have enough money for a fiberglass rod and 100 pieces of bait day 2-3 (day 2 is only if I get super lucky on chests while fishing, usually its near the beginning of day 3 I get it) This usually lets me buy the first backpack upgrade, 2x rare seeds and anything else I want from the travelling merchant by day 7, as well as having enough money left over to get roughly 40x kale seeds to raise my farming level. Just gotta be wary of overbuying seeds afterwards, because with the initial watering can you use up so much time and energy watering cops that its easy to overbuy them and it really limits you on what you can do. Also, if you leave the trees as stumps they'll continue to spread seeds around them, so if you plant all 3 tree types in a small area (or clear out an area around 3 that already exist on your farm and then make those into stumps) you can check that area for seeds and hoe them up to make field snacks. Also you might not always want to eat your lowest value fish. For example, an iridium herring gives you a lot more energy than a gold herring, but it doesn't sell for that much more. Imo its better to eat an iridium herring or anchovy when I need that extra bit of energy to keep fishing and I don't have anything else. Also, in my experience the ocean tends to give the best money for your fishing early on. Bullheads and Chubs do sell for more than anchovies, sardines, and herring, but you'll find a ton of carp as well which sell for crap, and the largemouth bass don't appear past 6pm so you won't be able to catch the most valuable fish there. Meanwhile you'll have chances for flounder or halibut all throughout the day at the ocean (though sometimes you'll only catch one or the other. iirc you can catch both in the morning, flounder only in the afternoon, and halibut only past around 6pm. Overall with the removal of carp and the ability to catch more valuable fish all day long I tend to make more money at the ocean (often 1k-1500 more over the course of a day. You are absolutely right about catfish being the best money though, but I tend to catch those just outside of Leah's cabin in cindersnap forest. I once got 16 catfish in one day there, and made over 7k between all the fish and gems I got from treasure chests. Plus if you fish often enough you have a decent shot at getting a Neptune's Glaive or Broken Trident from a treasure chest, and those can both help a ton in the mines early on. Other than that great stuff I actually hadn't realized the paths made you faster, I'm gonna have to make a few roads around my farm now.
@GraveyardMurmurs

I do disagree with some of these because it’s all subjective, a good list though. I would suggest keeping the parsnips and spending the rest of yours day one money on parsnips. When ready to harvest sell for potatoes as that will get you a lot of money just in time for strawberries! Keep a potato and a parsnip plant any mixed seeds to get a cauliflower and at some point buy a green bean starter. For the cc bundle. Forage constantly and befriend Caroline. I make all my spring forage into seeds once I have a bunch I plant it all and turn it into seeds again. use the recipe you get from reaching 2 hearts with Caroline to make tea saplings. An ABSURDLY GOOD early money method!!! Needs 2 seeds, 5 wood, 5 fiber. Farm fiber on floor 21 in the mines and if all out of wood you could buy some from robin for 10 gold. I bet you could complete joja mart month one using that method. Maybe not idk

Another tip for grass/ hay. Put a lightning rod on top of a grass starter in your animal's pasture. It prevents the animals from eating it and you from cutting it down. @@aceknight6622 To be clear, the animals eat the grass that expands out of the space that is covered by the lightning rod, and only a certain number of new grasses spawn each night, so you'll need several of them to ensure there's enough supply for all your animals. There's about a 70% chance at least 1 of the four orthogonally adjacent tiles will spawn 2 tufts on average, so you need about one of these feeders for every two animals in the worst case, but you can probably get away with 1 for every 3 to 5, since all the grass spawned that doesn't get eaten also has a chance to spread further.

I would not recommend tip 4, you should actually do the opposite. Parsnips actually have a better return on investment than potatoes (i.e. for a fixed investment, parsnips will give you more money per day than potatoes). Potatoes only give you more money per day if you are limited by farming slots rather than money (witch is usually the case except on day1). If you want to make money from crops quickly, invest your day1 money in parsnips not other crops (you can get potatoes and cauliflower from planting free mixed seeds anyways, you can buy just one green bean seed if you want to complete a bundle early). On day 5 you can sell your parsnips and then switch to potatoes. Or keep your parsnip for energy to go to the mines. If you want to focus on other things than crops early, just plant the 15 parsnips and no more. Crows will start to eat your crops when you have more than 15. The 15 parsnips will get you farming lvl 1 on day 5 which unlocks the scarecrow crafting recipe.

To elaborate on the profit of parsnips vs potatoes: One potato seed will yield more profit per day than one parsnip seed (8.33g/day vs 3.75g/day). However, a 100g of potato seeds is 2 seeds so a profit of 16.66g/day whereas a 100g of parsnip seeds is 5 seeds so a profit of 18.75g/day

that tip is moronic. you get 150 gold from selling those, while you can only buy 1 cauli flower and kale or 3 potatoes. either choice will earn you far less money and exp. it makes absolutely no sense. as for people talking about the possibility of getting more potatoes, make the calc! the money will let you buy 3 potato seeds more. but even if you get lucky and manage to get 6 potatoes from them (absurdly lucky but not impossible), you will still make 480. selling the parsnips after growing them you will make 525. AND the parsnips grow in 4 days, as opposed to 6. meaning you will make less money. people are confusing bulk farming, with wasting resources here. this is not a "it gives you money", NOTHING you can buy DAY 1 will give you more money than just planting the parsnips, and that's disregarding the amount of time it will take. remember you already start with 500, the 150 you would get wont be worth it.
@jordanhoman0212

I agree with buying as many parsnips as possible, but only to make as much money as possible to buy as many potatoes as possible. Sell the potatoes just in time to buy strawberries. A second round of parsnips may have the best money by day 9, but parsnips -> potatoes gives more money by day 11, one day early to sell for the egg festival. A third round of parsnips would be ready to sell on the 13th, but due to the festival, you can't sell them.

Also, those fruit trees are a really good investment, only need to clear around the tress as they grow and never need watering. People say fishing is the best money maker this is partially true, for the amount of work and skill needed (best the minigame) placing ten preserve jars and keeping them full up is much easier. Also, fish ponds roe can be used in preserve jars, the sturgeon makes caviar a good item to sell. Really nice little video. Lots of nifty little tips. Overall this is a worthwhile little game, having the ability to customize spots and to carry on as long as you wish is pretty spiffy. I've found that a silo isn't needed if you're going for a wheat farm. Plenty of hay. Pop a box down in/near the coop or barn, bobs yer uncle.

the last one is the most important tip for me! last month i started my first game and some days later, my brother and i started a game together. he plays so moneyhungry and uses every second of the day until he passes out. he dosnt understand why i not only plant the crops wich brings the most money and bugs me to drink coffee in game to run faster. but i dont need that....thats just stress. i want to enjoy it! in the shared game with him, the community center is already finished and we unlocked ginger island. but i dont go there! because hes just turning everything into stressfull situations and i feel very overwhelmed by it

Save one parsnip seed. Sell the rest but not needed. Just buy 1 seed of each on spring day 1. At least the ones needed for cc bundle. Harvest the last one needed on Easter. Buy at least 20 strawberry seeds at the Easter egg hunt. Go back into town after the Easter hunt with your collection for the bundle and get the speed grow for the 20 strawberry plants. This gets you one more harvest from 20 strawberry plants. Don't plant more than 15 seeds until you get scarecrows. The crows won't come and feast.

so is math done diferently here? how is selling the parsnips better? if you sell them you get an extra 150g. thats AT MOST 1 cauli and 1 kale, OR 3 potatoes. even IF you get a perfect planting potatoe and get 6 of them from those 3. you will make 420g. you know how much you will get if you plant and then sell the parsnips? 525. now lets remember that the chance of getting double potatoes is 20% meaning you will not get 6 of them when you farm those extra seeds. and then there's the time, 15 parsnips is just a bit more than enough xp to get farming lv2. and its only 4 days, as opposed to 6 from the potatoes. the season has 28 days, there's absolutely no reason to rush and get 1 of each, specially since getting 5 gold parsnips is one of the fastest and easiest for the quality bundle anyway, in those 5 its not weird to get 1 or even 2 gold quality.

@Marcos Danilo I rush for one each for the cc bundle so I can get the speed grow for the strawberries. If you use speed grow and plant them the night of the egg hunt you get one more harvest of strawberries. All that other math and stuff does not matter to me.

Why are people so scared of crows? So you might lose a few crops. Does the math really show that you lose money on it? I've seen this recommendation a dozen times and I think it's ridiculous.

Well, I also store away my tools in the early days if I know I won't need em. If I go mining, I'll leave watering can, axe, scythe... at a chest. Or if I go fishing, I'll normally just have my rod and maybe hoe with me.

I've only ever had the original version of this, and I've loved it since the beginning. I enjoy getting inspired by others layouts, since my main focus for a large majority of time was all about efficiency and quantity. Beauty came last even though esthetics were always present. I'm going home tonight and I'm going to reformat my parcel of land...

Tip 4 I say is not worth it, better to buy parshnips, after 4 days, which the 3 is always rainy, you can buy potatoes, they will harvest on the day before the egg festival, you will have loads of money to buy all the strawberries you desire, personally, I buy 20, it costs 2.000 and if you complete the spring crops bundle for the speed grow, you can get 3 harvest, just remember to plant the coliflower and bean on the 1 day and plant them first before any parshnip so the crows can’t eat it, crows only eat after 15 crops and only eat the 16+ crops.

I've done some math for the 'sell your seeds' tip. Tl;dr: If you do it for the early money, then it's not worth it. If you do it for early variety, be my guest. *warning: maths* Scenario 1: buy 25 extra parsnip seeds the first day, plant all 40 seeds on day 1. You wil have 40x35 = 1400g on day 5. Scenario 2: sell the 15 free seeds. You now have 650g. If you want the most profit per seed, buy cauliflower, they cost 80 and sell for 175. So you can buy 8 seeds with the 650g. You will have 8x175 = 1400 on day 13. Of course profit per seed is not the best way to rank the plants, so maybe you shouldnt invest all your money in cauliflowers, but I just wanted to show that this tip is not that good in terms of early money (in my opinion).

Selling the Parsnip seeds is such bad advice if one does not know what they are doing. It fetches you only 3 potato seeds and not even two cauliflowers. You have more than enough time for the Community Center bundle crops. Only sell the seeds if you actively don't want to farm and use fishing or exploi.. uhm clay farming as your money maker.
