I absolutely love your videos. No intro and no begging for likes and subs before I have even watched. You explain the purpose of the video and get right to the info. I really hate it when a video says I will see/learn Process A, but first we need to make breakfast, feed chickens, fix fence, water pigs, and 25 minutes later we can start Process A after another lengthy explanation. Thank you for continuing to show your successes, failures, goals and obstacles. You have grown into an amazing garden over the years and I love it all.

I'm a big fan and honestly I'm continuously surprised that you don't have more followers. Possibly because you avoid catchy click bait-y titles and thumb nails, and instead focus on a fact driven, dispassionate discussion of your observations. Honestly your channel is what we need more of in this world and I have faith that in time your channel and name will come to rank with some of the big names of organic gardening/farming. Keep it up please.

Hey there! I am a bit surprised too, keep waiting for that increase to happen. I know the click bait titles work for drawing attention, but I don't think they work for sustaining interest, and getting people to grow a lot more food. But I need to think more about how to frame things so they are a bit more accessible and interesting to others. Thanks for your confidence in me!

Hello Red Gardens! I've just subscribed to your channel! Something that I have found extremely useful last year - I run a 30 bed kitchen garden for a client, we set it up over 18 months and were growing and building at the same time last year. We have a 30 ft tunnel in which we grew tomatoes, melons, peppers, aubergines, and grow salads during the winter. I grew all our Augbergines from seed, but bought just one different variety in - it was the only one that got mould on it, but what stopped that dead in it's tracks was a spray of Colloidal Silver. This is fabulous diulted, as it kills the nasties, bolsters the plants and makes for healthy young plants. I dilute 20ppm by 50% and have a spray bottle handy.

I think your garden looks fabulous and you've certainly come a long way in five years! My first-time-viewer opinion doesn't hold much weight of course, but in answer to your question I have an observation. Many people are NEW gardeners needing their hands held. They could not use the refined advice as they struggle with basics. So thats a significant portion of new viewers who may not be ready for your sage wisdom in things beyond keep plants alive. Glad you found and appreciate my channel! Your thoughts about new gardeners needing something else are spot on, I think. I see my explorations and videos as focussing in the realm of people with more experience, as there are loads of channels that focus on the beginner aspects. That will obviously limit the available pool of people who will like this type of video. But I am surprised how many beginner growers, and even people who do not have a garden yet, who watch my videos, and seem to get a lot out of them. Perhaps it is that my approach is valued by people who think certain ways, or like to understand the world around them, regardless of their experience growing vegetables.

I have enjoyed watching your channel for a few years now, and have learned quite a bit from you even though we live and grow in a very different climate. Something you may want to consider as you continue to build your channel is that over the last couple of years a lot of new gardening channels have popped up, especially over the last year of lockdowns as people have little else to do. Other than my very favorite channels, I personally rely on the recommended videos that pop up alongside the currently being watched video, and it has been a while since I have seen one of your videos being recommended for watching and I find that I have to actually go to your channel to see what you have new to watch. KZitem, I have noticed, especially most recently has really been messing around with the algorithms that suggest videos for watching and are bringing back channels I have not seen in years. I do not know what that means for you, or how you can use this information to get your videos watched more by the masses, but I thought at least letting you know might help. Blessings to you always, and may you always have good health, good seasons of harvests, and great prosperity. Thank you again for all you do. ~SuzyJC~

we did experimenting with compost, (USF). Grinding composted items, before composting, cuts compost time down to a couple weeks. I would also recommend trying some bio-gas with that compost to offset costs. I see it as way more sustainable than solar or wind, and it's free. Enjoy!! I loved your tips!!

Grinding would definitely help. I bought a grinder and am starting to use it for batch compost systems.

When I lay my compost, and before I plant, I fill my large pump sprayer with warm water and add a couple squirts of DAWN. Spraying this over the compost soil helps to break the tension of the surface allowing the future waterings to soak in instead of run off.

This is a great video and very valuable. I still live on the lot that has shade… A suburban woodland. So when I move to a lot that has sun and I can finally grow food, this will be very valuable info.

It was really interesting to hear of the wide variety of things that you've learnt in the past year 👍 if you're worried about your channel plateauing, I'd recommend you make some KZitem shorts and also make some community posts to bring in a wider audience

Yes first time gardener this year and yes 1/4 yield I expected also had a horrible summer for growing as well super hot to muggy and rain.Yes found seeds from 2011 French breakfast seriously was surprised they germinated so prolifically my dogs love them I used the greens for sauce along with basil and arugula for some spice.Thank you posting the germination fails and stunted plant growth I thought I was doing something wrong may have been the seed not sure if you’d want to try flying bug strips they might help pest in a tunnel. I found a lot of good content from numerous gardeners I wonder if it would be worth while to have all of you make a larger channel to support each other and keep it on topic instead of being bombarded by other content.

I really love this channel as a resource. You don't really do trendy videos which I appreciate but to help your numbers I would recommend making videos that give people some more basic overviews. I think each of your garden types has its pros and cons and it would be a useful video series to do one video per garden bed walking people through how to start that garden type. Think of it as a "First year with an intensive method garden" or "Starting a no-dig garden" etc. I think those starting off videos would be really popular with people just starting their own spaces. Your gardens are so developed its hard to imagine where to start.

I am interested in subscribing to channels I can learn from. Experimenting in the garden is half the fun. To say what doesn't work for one person may work well for someone else, doesn't even begin to describe all of the trials and tribulations of growing produce to fruition. What works well for you one year can go horribly wrong for you the next. Seasonal turbulence can be rough. Every garden has it's challenges to overcome. And those challenges can be ever changing. We learn to Captain our Ship through Log keeping and experience, but we always have to be in tune with nature. I'm interested, so I have subscribed.

I just found your channel in February 2022 and I am subscribing. Last year I read that I should cut off the lowest leaves of the squash plants because they don't get enough sun and because they hinder air flow to the baby squashes. I did this and had less disease and more squash.

That is interesting. I do that with courgettes/zucchini, but haven't with squash.
