As a Brit growing up in India, what would be a "bib overall" in the US would be "dungarees". No rivet, but basically the same, a heavy-duty blue fabric for work. When I came to the US for university I couldn't wait to get my first pair of 501s. I actually still have them. Although it has been a few years since I could fit into them they are perfectly frayed and art in my opinion. I no longer wear jeans, but at the time 501s were my statement at university!

To shrink your jeans to fit by sitting in the bath, you will need to have 501 hours to spare.

The 501’s were once my favorite.I stopped buying Levi when I noticed the quality wasn’t as good. It’s been awhile since I’ve bought a pair of Levi’s.

If you buy Levi’s at a discount store like Walmart you are literally getting an inferior version of the jeans. The only way Walmart can sell them at a discount is by using a version that Levi’s makes specifically for Walmart. This goes for a lot of products, not just jeans. In most cases you really do get what you pay for.

THIS - Levi's were always my go-to, no other brand could compare, period - BUT they stopped using the quality heavier denim and switched to a cheap, TISSUE THIN material that in no way compares to what fans had always relied on. Sad.

@@patronsaintofnow9765 When I bought my 501’s,decades ago (mid to late 80’s) I was buying them at a boutique in my local mall. The button flys were my favorite.Comfortable, durable and fit well.I’ve never bought Levi’s at Walmart.Ever. And noticed a quality decline.I’d love another pair of those now if the quality and material has improved.

They might design them in America but they sure don't make them there any more.....unlike Origin Maine.

The superior makers of LEVIS now are Japan. The 501 was a totally different Jean before 1971. When they sold all the salveged looms to Japan. When I used to buy the shrink to fit Jean's in the 1960s there used to be a white cotton fluff on the indigo 501 jeans. Also the salveged denim they used to make them from had a charm of it's own in the weave and the salveged seam. The Japanese made Evisu jeans are more like the original LEVI'S!.. I wish they bought the original format back , instead of the busted seam 501s that they make now..I still have a pair made in 65....it all changed when they started using modern wide looms..😪

It’s really sad what the corporate philistines did to the Levi’s brand. I doubt they even still make an 100% cotton denim anymore. Also, their patterns are way off, because of the inconsistency-one never knows what you’re going to get.

The guy at the end must have been watching old “Spin and Marty” shows. Levi’s started offshoring. I’ve been wearing Wranglers for decades. Sadly, their last US plant closed a number of years ago. I don’t think my late wife ever forgave Levi’s for dropping black corduroys. Take care.

Once upon a time - a basic pair of 501's is now made with 'denim' (if you can call it that) so thin/lightweight it feels like tissue paper.
