“Where’s that confounded bridge?” 🤘🏼😎

It was truly painful to see this situation. You did the best you could! I have made so many mistakes like that in my life it's amazing I am still sane.

It's always a nice mistake when you have the ability to correct it. That hammering trick to get rid of buzzing mostly worked, except for one pesky fret (but still mitigated the effect a bit).

That's good news, and now you hardly have to do any levelling.

Thanks for the video. I am a novice. Just wondering if you could have moved the neck instead? I am changing the neck and hope to use the existing bridge holes.

That would be a lot more difficult. In one direction, if would interfere with the neck pickup cavity, so you'd have to move that too. In the other direction (as in this case), you'd have to fill part of the existing neck pocket, which would not be easy. You'd have to move the screws in the back of the body as well, which are recessed into the body. So moving the bridge is definitely the best solution.

Just made the same mistake on my build and need to move the bridge just a tad further. Trick of putting something hard in the holes to get the sleeve out will be very useful. I hadn't thought of that. DæI don't have a plug making bit, but I'm sure I'll think of something.

I would definitely say - get a plug cutting bit. They aren't expensive, and they're so very useful!

Didn't you only have to refinish the guitar because removing the tape also removed the finish?

So my pal gave me a body drilled for 24.75 scale length, but I want to plug and drill for a 30" baritone. Is this possible on a normal-aized guitar body?

In principle yes that should be no problem. But check first. Does the baritone neck fit in the existing neck pocket? If not, are you comfortable modifying the pocket? It's my understanding that in many cases it will already fit. It's just going to be a matter of putting the new neck in (or sitting it in place prior to making any alterations), and measuring 30 inches from the nut. If you're happy with where that scale length lands on the body (not too close to the end, acceptable pickup placement), then yes you can definitely plug and drill as necessary. There are conversion baritone necks (e.g. from Warmoth) that fit directly into a guitar with a 25.5" scale guitar with no need to move the bridge, but as yours is 24.75", you'll need to move it.

@@MonsterGuitars thanks for the quick reply! Looking at this mockingbird body, moving the bridge 4.5 inches south puts it pretty close to the ass-end!
