Dr Amin wants to ‘tear the biases’ - that’s a beautiful thought and a noble cause !! Balancing such a beautiful bond of inter religious marriage, in a country like India .. difficult but not impossible !! This conversation and the book I am sure, brings hope to people who believe in equality, freedom and happiness irrespective of biased religious perspectives. Thankyou for this episode @trendsliteratureseries and Neeta !!!!!

The Britishers have left India long before and now it is time for Indian new generation to learn to live their life with equality and pride. Interfaith marriages could be really rewarding and fulfilling provided there is no hidden religious fanaticism. If the other party has not learned this and asks for religious conversion (to please my grandmother!! ha ha!!), the victim party has to be alerted. Do not fake convert. Do not make lies and deception a foundation of your married life. Be honest! Never settle for anything less than 50%.

And look, here most of the comment is from hindu women and they are supporting it. It shows their loyalty to muslim community? Iranian ladies are far better than these people .Because they have stood against hijab and nequab. Iranian ladies are also followers of their own culture and that is Zoroastrianism. What about us?

Can you clarify what are Hindu women here are supporting? I think they are endorsing the message of equality and respect for who they are, is that not good?

No problem in Hindu Muslim marriage if Hindu protect their daughter like Muslim do. When a Hindu girl marries a Muslim boy , her parents and relatives consider her dead. They should stand with her so that she isn't helpless.

Excellent point. At no point, Hindu parents should give up on their daughter (or son) if they marry interfaith. After all, she (he) is your child. If you keep them in your fold, you have chances to influence them and to your grandchildren. Even your Hindu daughter converted to Islam, still keep the newly weds in the fold. Think ‘skip generation conversion’ and strategize to bring grandchildren back you your culture.

such hindu girls should happily accept their fate because every action has its own consequences, im not against interfaith marriage with any religion or ethnicity except Muslims, as hindu girls are free to take take their own decisions, likewise parents and relatives should be free to decide fate of relationship with their daughter, hindu society should not be turned in rehab center for such deliberate left overs.

Prejudice is so layered... Dr Amin has overlooked that even if same faith same caste marriages children carry their paternal surnames.. Premises itself is biased... Equality is utopian

In almost all Hindu-Muslim marriage cases, it is only the Hindu party is expect to change religion to Islam. This is true today in probably 90% (99+%?) of such marriages around the world. Most Muslim countries will not allow a 'Hindu'-Muslim couple to register their marriage. It does not matter if the Muslim party is male or female or from what caste. Why Hindus (or non-Muslims) have to be in the submissive position? What is wrong in expecting equality? I am not talking about dominance, meaning 100%. Is it wrong to expect 50% equality?

If a child is not happy with the name he or she can later adopt mother's name or keep a completely neutral name. Many places especially in the northeast it's a matriarchal society and ppl do all sorts of things.
