Thanks very informative! just an update to this video: At the time of this comment, Class.forName(..) is no longer required. Java will detect your driver automatically. Therefore, Class.forName(..) can be omitted.

13:53 Connection is an interface and interfaces are never made to represent objects , you are keeping the reference recieved from DriverManager class in connection type variable .

It is polymorphism. We can't create an instance of interface but we create an object of that and execute the methods which are implemented by the class which are inheriting that interface.

Fast, but on the dot. But what i don`t understand.. I want to use a MySQL connection in a loop, because i have to poll a table frequently for new data. But even if i close the ResultSet, the connection and the statement, is at the next round the old result still there. I cannot get a new result, unless I restart the program. What is my mistake?

I learnt a programming course years ago in my teens from a very expert teacher... The teacher was really great... Then went for computer engineering... After years I found a great teacher as my first one... All these years in engineering never found a good teacher...
