Except for the little hesitation to let the crossing gates go down, that was almost "straight to 8". I love it when engineers can do that! When they're pushing, they don't have to worry about breaking knuckles.

Personally I've always preferred the sound of the 567 series engines that I grew up with, and IMO NOTHING beats a turbo 645 getting down and pulling like gangbusters in Run 8.

I remember the first time I took a trip on the then "new" MP40-PHs back when they came into GO Transit. I covered my ears because of how loud they were, nowadays, I stand right next to the engine whenever possible! Great video sir!

Locomotive design and sound is marvellous because in aerodynamic shape
@pqhkr2002

However most commuter trains have no aerodynamic when locomotive is at rear in push mode because the face of control car is just pure vertical like normal passenger cars.

"One of the best sounding EMD engines on the market hands down." While equipped with an EMD 710-series prime mover, GO Transit 627 is an MP40H-3C manufactured by MPI in 2010. MPI is a subsidiary of Wabtec, the company that bought the GE Transportation (the locomotive manufacturer) in 2019.

Wow ! Never knew that Even Amtrak uses EMD 16-710 for Passenger Purposes, like India's GT46PAC's.. I also recommend a 20-710 loco based on SD80mac for Passenger Purposes..

Beginner’s question, but why is the engine going basically full throttle? Since this is just a passenger train, it definitely isn’t as heavy as, say, a coal train. Couldn’t it have stayed at a lower notch? 🤔

Great sound But why it's going back?
@nayooropeza2211
Жыл бұрын
Not going back, but rather pushing. This type of set up is common among short line passenger operations where a train set consists of usually one locomotive at one end and a control equipped car at the other end. When the train reaches end of the line with the locomotive at the head end the train then goes back to originating terminal but now the end car with cab controls is now the leading edge of the train therefore eliminating the need to turn around the locomotive.

Why is it going in reverse??? Or Is there another locomotive at the other end???🤔🤔🤔🤔
@voidjavelin23

Its not reverse or theres a locomotive in the end but rather its pushing it self Basically why is because the cab car (which is engineless loconotive) is in operation

Why was the train going backwards?
@cnhaltonsub

The cab car at the front (technically the end when the locomotive is pulling) was in operation. The engine acts as a propellant in this case :)

Why locomotive is at rear of the train?
@cnhaltonsub
2 жыл бұрын
it acts as a push-pull consist. The cab car at the end (in this case the front) of the train is connected to the locomotive via a MU cable. Throttle response is matched with the locomotive, generating push-pull forces. When this consist comes back, the locomotive at the rear of the train will be pulling.
@hawkinsdale

I can translate into non-train-nerd speak: There's a locomotive just like the one we see here on the front of the train. This locomotive is pushing, while the lead locomotive is pulling. The cool thing is that when this train returns from wherever it went, the locomotive that we see here will be pulling, and will be the lead, while the other one will be pushing.
@patriotcanuck6485

There is only one engine pushing-pulling the train. The other end of the train is a passenger car with an engineer cab (driver) to control the engine at the rear.
