Ok, who gave Max a blindfold? We know what happens when we give events to people named Max

Is 8 Algs super lucky or not?
@MaxSiauwCubing
7 ай бұрын
It's not unheard of, but it's definitely above average because 8 algers appear in roughly 1.56% of scrambles

Everyone says it every time, but your improvement and dedication is absolutely unfathomable! Do you think maining an event like squan which is heavily alg-based made learning all the 3sty algs that much easier?
@MaxSiauwCubing
7 ай бұрын
thanks man :) That's a great question, I would actually say no. It's true that squan is alg-based, but 3-style isn't rote memorization like sq-1 -- most of the algs and comms are intuitive, so learning them was just naturally easier

your 3bld progression is genuinely really motivating me to do squan. you went from being pretty bad with 3 style to really smooth, and im hoping i can do the same with 4 looking and pbl.

When did you start learning 3style? And do you have any tips for learning edges?
@MaxSiauwCubing
7 ай бұрын
I started at the beginning of this year. To learn edges, definitely use a spreadsheet (I recommend Elliotts, which you can find at bestsiteever.ru). Before you start you should have a solid grasp of how commutators work, that way 3 style is much more intuitive than just rote memorization of algorithms. I also recommend Elliott's buffer trainer which is a great way to train algs on an actual scramble

Did you do pure audio memo for both corners and edges?
@MaxSiauwCubing
7 ай бұрын
I make images for corners but I do pure audio for edges. The reason being that my order is memorize corners then edges, and then execute edges then corners. Since i'm memorizing corners first and executing last, I need images to preserve them in my long term memory. Since I'm executing edges right after memorizing them, pure audio works for memorizing edges

How long did it take you to first learn bld and what method should I learn when learning for first time?
@MaxSiauwCubing
7 ай бұрын
I learned BLD a long time ago, I think it took me about a week from when I first started to when I got my first success. I recommend learning Old Pochmann--that's the beginners method pretty much everybody (including myself) starts on

my memo went from 12s-14s to like 16s-18s when transitioning to 3 style, any thoughts?
@MaxSiauwCubing
7 ай бұрын
Hmm that's interesting, I don't see why your memo would be affected by learning 3-style. It might be because with 3-style, a lot of your brainpower is allocated towards recalling and executing each commutator so you'll have to spend extra time reviewing memorization to compensate. Over time it'll get faster though!
