While most are aware the Qolsys IQ panels are robust wireless alarm systems, too many are unaware that the IQ Panels can actually be used to take over hardwired systems as well. In this video, Hayden showcases the Qolsys QS7133-840 Hardwired 16-F Hardwired to Wireless translator, or "16-F" for short. The 16-F connects wirelessly to the IQ Panel, and will accept up to 16 hardwired zone inputs. These are great for existing hardwired systems that need to be upgraded, but also provide the features available on the IQ Panel systems. The biggest downside is that the 16-F can only be used with the 319MHz wireless card that is only in certain models of the IQ Panel. That being said, if you are starting fresh with your install, and you have a previous hardwired system you're upgrading, the 16-F is a fantastic choice for keeping the existing sensors. The 16-F while requiring resistors, has a very unique feature that allows you to "teach" the device what resistor values are attached to your sensors. This makes installation even simpler because you will not need to dig the old resistors out of the wall to replace them as you would on most systems.
There is another option for hardwired to wireless translators that works with IQ panels called the PG9WLSHW8, which uses PowerG to wirelessly communicate. We will be bringing more information about that device in a later video, but if you want to check both it, and Qolsys 16-F head on over to www.alarmsystemstore.com and check them out. If you still have questions feel free to reach out to our customer service or sales team so we can assist you.
