Watching this footage of Elvis home is like walking back to the past. Graceland is and will forever be the home of Elvis Presley, the king.

This footage of Graceland 1978 is very bittersweet. It shows in the moment of time that Elvis Only died approximately 6 months prior to this footage. For me it has a deep sadness but also to see the winter footage of 1978

Thank so much for sharing. I was 11 and just heard about him. I was in ROME, Italy and never knew of him before he died. I just went crazy about Elvis and loved him immediately and still do. I realized my dream to be in Graceland for the first time in 1991. Love all my Elvis FRIENDS in the usa and in the world

I was a young teenager when this video was taken. 1978 was undoubtedly the worst year of my youth. My hero, Elvis, had died just months earlier and I was lost and inconsolable throughout that horrid year. My dream of seeing him live on stage was extinguished forever. It was truly a dark year. It took a long time to get over it.

Hard to believe it was 1978 then. It was almost just like when Elvis left us, and it also looks the same as the 1950's film that one sees of Graceland at the time, and back in '78, the '50's looked so long ago, but now, when we look at the '78, it looks like it did in the '50s, incredible.

Elvis' uncle Vester was the the long time gate guard, the Scout is now in the Graceland museum. They didnt put the side panels back when it was restored. You can see many photos of the Scout when Elvis lived there. You can see it ,when Elvis' drives through the gate just after midnight on Aug, 16, 1977. It can be seen in the iconic photo when Presleys hearse is exiting the gates on the day of the funeral.
