This was such a good video omg ty i enjoy your explanation of where the equation comes from too. It.was concise and clear.

Hi sir, for the qualification do we need to know how to prove the formulae’s or do we just need to be able to use them in different problems? Would really help as exams Tuesday going through content

It is unlikely (but not impossible) that you'll need to prove them - at this level they mostly just want you to be able to use them. Good luck on Tuesday!

hi sir , in the book for question 4)ii ) in exercise 8.4 , i got upto cos(x)= root 3 / 2 and got 2 values ( 30 and 330 ). I’m confused on where they got the rest of the answers from? In the answer section it says 0, 30, 180, 330 or 360?

You've lost a set of solutions. You should also get sin(X) =0 Did you divide by sin(X) both sides to cancel those terms? Don't - instead gather all terms on one side and factorise (sin(X) will be the factor) Hope that helps

@@bareaumaths yes sir i get it now. I was also wondering how in the last question in this video you can simply divide by cos theta but for the question in the book you can’t divide both sides by tan theta ? Also thank you so much for your help , your videos have been a godsend to students who are self learning the course 🙏

@@boredpeach great question. In that one I am converting sinTheta divided by cosTheta into TanTheta rather than cancelling any possibly zero terms. Something to discuss further with your maths teacher.

For the last question, why doesn't it equal to 8 sin theta / -cos theta = -5 ?
@bareaumaths
3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mili. I hope you're happy up to the point where you have 8 Sin(theta) = -5 Cos(theta). You could divide by -Cos(theta) at that point, but you'd only have 5 on the right if you did that. It's simpler to divide by Cos(theta), in which case you're left with -5 on the right. Does that help? Another way of thinking about it is if your suggestion was correct, then multiplying both sides by -Cos(theta) should get back to the previous line. However, if you do that then you get 8 Sin(theta) = -5 x -Cos(theta) which then becomes 8Sin(theta) = 5 Cos(theta) which is not the previous line.

for the very last question, what would the steps be if you took away 8sin theta first, instead of 5cos theta?? i tried that but didnt get very far.
@bareaumaths
Жыл бұрын
You should then get: 5cos(theta)= -8Sin(theta) then the next line would be to divide by cos(theta) to get: 5 = -8 Sin(theta)/Cos(theta). Then divide by -8 to get: 5/-8 = Sin(theta)/Cos(theta). This is essentially the same as my penultimate line as 5/-8 is the same as -5/8. Does that help?
