I'm not sure how accurate they portrayed the relationship of Edward and Jane but it felt special and he cared about her

Don't agree. Her facial structure is peculiar. Nose is okay, but mouth and chin too small. Forehead too wide and hairline too low. A woman may still be gorgeous without having classic proportions, but only when her features are in a pleasing harmony.

Not quite true. King Edward did not have to be manipulated into choosing Grey as successor. He was young, but no man's puppet. He knew Mary Tudor was rightful heir. He also knew Mary was passionate about restoring England to the Catholic Church and Edward was adamantly opposed. That is why he chose Jane, a more distant relative who was too vulnerable but in accord with Edward's beliefs. Mary wasn't going to take that kneeling down plus she had the support of the British people as rightful heir. Thus, Mary faced little opposition in reclaiming her crown. The queen wanted to spare Jane's life. However, the Grey family faction made such a stink that it became politically expedient to have Jane executed for treason. It was best for the country since Jane was not equipped to rule. She could not even stand her ground against her own family, let alone England's enemies. She was innocent, naive, and idealistic, virtues in a nun but not in a queen. That lamb was led to the slaughter by no fault of her own.

I learned it a bit differently, years ago,. Mary was, at the time, married to Philip of Spain (who would later send the Armada against England). He refused to come to England (ostensibly a state visit, but actually so that both of them could get laid) until Jane was executed, and he explained that her living presence frightened his advisors who felt she would stir up a rebellion against him.

I might add Jane Grey wasn’t totally innocent of what she was ultimately charged with .Known historical documents exist that Jane signed “Jane the Quene .”

j'ai lu son histoire par "reines de sang" de Phiiippa Gregory, elle explique très bien le tragique destin de cette pauvre jeune fille, qui ne voulait absolument pas être reine !
