@@yomama...isaveryniceladythis is the biggest problem. I'm doing French at the moment and I'm starting to ask myself if it was easier to learn Japanese. Culture comes into it a lot, when speaking Japanese maybe people were more patient generally. I do a French conversation session with a French lady sometimes and she doesn't let me finish my sentence. That is the worst thing for a learner of another language

@@andybliss5965 Indeed. Asians treat me like family and Im white. They dont pretend I aint what I am, but they welcome me with open arms (in most cases). Im not sure why with alot of cultures such is not the case. I think we native English speakers dont really care if others learn our language and try to be like us, but we are used to it, and I believe we are quite helpful. We may standardize or slow down our speech, but for the most part talk naturally and make the conversation work, which is best for learners. As for French people, Ive had a good experience personally, so if my experience is to be considered, Id recommend finding a new conversation tutor. Its possible shes just nervous or maybe yalls personalities dont match.

How cool to know Russian too. You are young and that is such an advantage. You will improve in all of these languages and probably pick up more. Thank you for sharing this video. It really is great!

At 16 this is a good start! German is your best foreign language. Caribbean Spanish is the hardest. In Portuguese I usually use 'parecido' and to a lesser extent 'semelhante' for 'similar'. I've used Portuguese quite a bit in my career. I CLEP'ped out of 3 semesters each of Spanish and French. I don't use Italian that much either. I took 2 years of Russian, but I certainly didn't reach a B2 level during that time, maybe a lower B1 level. In recent years Assimil has helped me improve my German and Russian. I'm more confident in these 2 languages now. Perfect? No way! You'll hit some plateaus in your languages and even find them boring as heck. That's when I'll put a language on the back burner and concentrate on another one. When you come back to it, you'll remember it if you've achieved at least a B2 level in it. Muscle memory basically. Netflix is good for exposure to languages. The higher levels come with reading.

Not to be that but your title triggered me. I know English probably isn't your first language so I don't blame you, but when you put something in parentheses, the clause that is outside of it has to make sense too. 16-year-old polyglot (attempting) to speak 7 languages doesn't make sense because 16-year-old polyglot to speak 7 languages doesn't make sense. A grammatically correct title would be 16-year-old polyglot (attempting) speaking 7 languages. because 16-year-old polyglot speaking 7 languages makes sense by itself.

Es ist alles eine Frage der Übung. Ich lebe in Spanien und spreche und höre Spanisch und Valencianisch ( Katalanisch ) täglich. Das macht es leichter.

Typically, when it comes to the informal form of addressing in German, “du,” “dich,” “dir,” etc, one would write these words with lowercase letters. However, many people do tend to write them capitalised, particularly in letters and emails. The truth is, it's possible to write “dir” in both ways. Sometimes, it is seen with a capital letter, but it's generally better to use the lowercase version as this is always considered correct in German grammar. I believe the Duden will also tell you the same. :)

Hi Liam ! You're doing it pretty well 😜. Little question, maybe it's silly, whereabouts are you from ? Sounds like you're a Briton but maybe I'm wrong. At your age, I was just trilingual (🇨🇵🇬🇧🇩🇪). Then, I started learning Russian on my own 🇷🇺 in 2016. Later on, I majored in Russian at uni and picked up Dutch 🇳🇱 & Czech as minors 🇨🇿. Also, I've been learning Spanish 🇪🇦 for 2 months thanks to my girlfriend 🥰. However, I'd say I've unlearned most of my Czech & Dutch and forgotten a lot of German cause I lack in practice. As for your Russian, I would recommend you to find a Russian penpal or to look up for a language community on Вконтакте. That's how I started communicating in Russian without knowing much Russian 😅. If it turns out to be a language exchange, all the better 😃. You can correct their English, German or another language and they'll give you good insights to hone your skills in Russian within a short span of time ! When you'll feel comfier chatting in Russian, send some voice notes and in the end dare calling them and making mistakes at the same time. That's the better method 😉. Cheerio mate ! Tchao ! Tschüs! Спишемся позже! Adiós tío!

Hey Pierre! Thanks a lot for this comment and the advice!! Actually, I have heard of ВКонтакте several times but never downloaded it as I never exactly knew what it was about. From what you're saying it sounds like it's possible to find language exchanges there, right? I'll give it a go! And yesss I am British! Although what's funny is that many people mistake me for being German, I assume it's because my accent may be a sort of mix between both British and German? Honestly, no idea how or why! But anyways, спасибо большое и пока!!
