The Press Council of India is a statutory, quasi judicial organization formed in 1966. The Press Council of India came into existence on the basis of recommendation made by First Press Commission of India. It is the self-regulatory moral watchdog of the press, for the press and by the press, that operates under the Press Council Act of 1978. The Council has a chairman - traditionally, a retired Supreme Court judge, and 28 additional members. In this video objectives of Press Council of India have been discussed in detail for the benefit of the students.
