Solid points guys , thanks so much for the informative chat, so as rural community we need to set up networks and platforms/forums where all these ideas can be shared. Maybe long term a Rural Construction and building body/community . A project manager in the rural setting is also key precisely because there is no minimum code for most building stages. i like that you also insist on quality , quality , quality . We the people who own these projects are the lead and we pay honest money and therefore also deserve honest work . My big thing is contractors cleaning as they go , waste and material disposal , needs to be improved generally in Zim . Great work guys , we are enjoying the journey !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi guys thanks for the video. We are also building at our farm in seke. I've been on the ground everyday for procurement and the actual brick work and the finishings. It is stressful but worth it cause you want your concept to materialism. Keep up the good work❤

I can so relate on all points. The one that gets to me the most is imposed ideas. I kid you not, my cottage was supposed to be a rondavel and by the time I got to the ground found it was rectangular. For the main house, I wanted exposed beams and high ceilings but the contractor just could not fathom the concept. Next project I will be very firm, if one is not able to work with my vision they will not be engaged! Thanks for sharing guys.

A lot of what you have shared definitely resonates with our experience with some of the contractors. In the same breath we’ve had some great ones too.

When it comes to buying material, contractors are usually in cohorts with supplier shops. A contractor over states quantities to you. You pay, but then some of the stuff is left behind in the shop for resale and sharing of money. I was scammed of 35 bags of cement this way.

I am watching whilst in USA. I remember asking you about how I can get land in Honde Valley. You didn't give me a clear answer. Of how to go about it.I also come from Nyanga.

I can totally relate to what you mentioned at 14:17. The contractor took all the deposit with him and left the guys working on the project with no food, etc. Some contractors treat their workforce so bad which mostly results in poor work or late completion of project.😢

Thats very true thinking that you dont have to say or correct them eg after work they leave it for you to clean up They also charge like you have the money True lack of supervision and ready to steal some things like cement That intentionaly done to take the brickforce and resale them

Haagh pa-imposing ideas apo...Haagh ndakasvika roof yachinjwa, hanzi it makes the house look like a shop, apa vatopedza kuvaka, no consulting on the issue...its definitely frustrating nemacontractors...I made a decision on upcoming projects, I will be present during construction. Thanks for the pointers, will take note of them. Keep up the good work..

The majority and the one I have as abuilding contract displays No professionalism, they don’t care about their reputation, they don’t see the need to protect their “brand” aka their name. No vision for repeat / references for more business. No sense of pride… just kungovharana vharana is the norm. So sad kuti a professional needs to be micromanaged 😔

LOL.....kikikiki....You really reminded me about my experiences when I built my cottage some years back. All your points and many more correlate. As for me it was like learning an eleventh commandment, "Thou shall never settle for a Fix & Supply" quotation from these guys. My Electrician squandered all the money upon my full payment and later on fitted me close to 20 power points fittings of different brands, shapes, colours and sizes and upto now I am still grappling to come to terms with the colourful electrical work.......and as usual it was .....'but mudhara zvese zvinongoshanda wani" and I am like "shall I commit murder here, Mwari ndibatsireyi kuzvidzora ndakaremerwa.....'

Lack of attention to detail is a big issue with contractors . Had to change 5 doorframes in one project. It was stressful
