Hi all,
I had a fun time with Damon receiving his new PEBL which arrived here in Eugene on December 28th. My friend Matt and I went over to the Albertson's on 30th and Hilyard to wait for the truck to arrive with Damon's new toy! It was a blast seeing the new PEBL and seeing how the new delivery service works. This really is first-class service and his PEBL arrived in flawless shape. The bright orange color is great and some of the new features are shown such as the new controller, new internal rain gutter for the back hatch, etc.
You may or may not remember, but Damon test rode my PEBL way back in episode 7 approx 1 year ago. He ordered his shortly after riding mine and began the waiting game. Fortunately the wait time has decreased slightly since I got mine and even since his was ordered. I think it's now at around 9 months or so. According to his invoice, his PEBL may be #85 but we're waiting to hear the final word on that.
Thanks again for watching, and keep cycling!
Also, if you want to get in touch with Haul Bikes, check out their website www.haulbikes.com or call (888) 428-5245 I was really impressed with their service.
A few comments about statements in the video:
"one of mine is gray, and one of mine is black" I'm referring to my headlight housings. Both of Damon's are black and the recessing around the lights is slightly different now.
At approx 8:55 I'm talking about the benefits of a glass front window. It's something I've considered doing to mine since it'd take a lot more to fog it since it'd be thicker, it would not scratch with the wiper, and you could apply different types of antifog and coatings to the windscreen to keep it fog and rain-free.
At 9:22 Damon is commenting "what's going on here?" The rubber window surround bulges a bit at the bends since it's really intended to go in a straight line. The adhesives hold it in place pretty well and still it bulges a bit which doesn't look optimal.
At 10:20 we're talking about the weight of the new PEBL. I would guess that the new PEBL is probably 20 lbs lighter than mine. I'm not sure if that's to do with the new body material, the lighter/smaller battery components, or the combination of a lot of little things, but it's definitely lighter.
At 13:12 we're discussing the green button being "lights for under there" - what I meant is that the lights in the footwell, which Damon doesn't have since he didn't purchase the lighting kit. The light kit includes LED lights in the footwell which is nice for when you're clipping in at 4:00am like I do. It also includes an overhead dome push-button light, and lighting in the cargo bay. Personally it's well worth the $100 in my opinion.
At 13:54 we're discussing his gearing, that the gears were hard to turn. Since the first ride, the gears are working perfectly and he tells me he uses all of the gears and they work great.
The new mirrors are really nice, much larger and I think have a nice look to them.
Enjoy everyone!
