What a wonderful video. You did such a great job of explaining this history of the shirtwaist and how that evolved into the shirtdress. It is nice to know the background of these patterns and styles. Thank you for your time

Never thought about the history of these styles. Thank you for doing your homework. The vogue v1952 looks more like Diane’s signature style. Great video

Thank you! I agree! After researching that vogue pattern, I am now tempted to go purchase it, even though I have several wrap patterns 😆

I remember when DVF hit the scene. Her style made a serious impact on me. I doubly regret leaving my patterns behind when I was deployed to Germany back in the 80's. I thought I wouldn't need them. Big mistake. Thankfully, my mom kept some of my stash intact, but my sister had already absconded with my original DVF patterns. At the beginning of this year, I pulled all of the wrap dress patterns out of my stash and thought of creating a Make Nine series. That will have to wait until 2024 as I have a copy paper box full of wrap dress patterns to go through. Tea, a wrap dress and a shirtwaist aka shirtdress are two of my favourite style dresses to wear. I'm glad to see them making a comeback after the explosion of buffet dresses. I think there is room for all types of dresses in one's wardrobe. Thank you so much for doing the research and sharing this wonderful info.

I agree! Wrap dresses should be a staple for everyone. I've never looked into the history of dvf's designs until recently. I think she has a unique style, and she often uses 70s-style fabric, which is interesting.
