This is just proof it shouldn’t cost an arm & a leg to do a simple addition to a house!!!! Have a 2 vehicle garage with an aprtmnt rooms above!!! If u can finish the inside yourself at your own pace…. This is the way to go! Make sure the concrete has route to drain/septic! And figure where you’re electrical will come in! Of course water too! This is so cool seeing your start to finish! My dad could do carpentry too! I was able to finish our 1st house downstairs yrs ago! I even put a bathroom in by myself! Because my dad’s wisdom came In Handy! I learned more than I thought! I anchored the walls & built! My wife was shocked how well the downstairs turned out!👌🙏🏽🤘🏼👍🏽👋🏼

I really enjoyed watching the videos about the construction of the Gambrel garage and the upstairs apartment. I'm a 71 year old woman (bet you don't get many of those commenting on your videos!) who was in the construction business with my late husband. Now, I'm in the plumbing business with my NEW husband! Just wanted to let you know that it's such a joy for me to watch good carpenters constructing a "thing of beauty." If you were in the Wisconsin area, I'd hire you-all to build a Gambrel garage and apartment for us on our 20 acre lot in the north woods of Wisconsin!! As it is, I'll have to be satisfied with watching the videos. Hope your business thrives!!

I lived in northern MN for 15 yrs and got very used to the tongue and groove pine. I've been adding it now to my family home that I bought when my father passed. I love working with the pine and love the look and everyone that sees it always comments on what a difference it is to see something other than drywall. Loved watching you install it.

That's a tiny home I'd like to own... I would suggest that the guy sawing repetitive cuts use a saw stop. Set once and cut lots of same sized boards without having to use their tape. If I could suggest something for the future... move the pedestrian door in between the two garage doors since that makes more space between the cars (preventing door dings) and does not interrupt the wall space for a door along the side. Also, for security reasons, having a side facing door makes it easier to break in, without detection.

I see a lot of construction workers on their knees when working. This is extremely hard on the knee caps, and the knees in general. I don't do that much work around the house to the degree I would have to use knee pads but it sure is nice to have a pair of work pants with built-in knee pad pockets when doing such work. I got mine on Amazon for about $40., including pads. The knee pads are easily removed for laundering, although the company says you don't have to remove pads when laundering the pants, I do anyway. They are durable and breathe reasonably well. I'm older (70+), and I'm surprised you, as an older person are not taking steps to preserve your knees. I know that strap-on knee pads are cumbersome, don't stay in place very well. I think it's good to know a pant like mine is available .Having such work pants similar to mine should help preserve your health.

looks really good. I love the pine walls. I used beetle kill blue pine on my ceilings and my staircase leading to my basement. Not sure i'd do the entire house/apartment, just because i know you'll want to hang things on the wall, which means drilling holes. But that's just my paranoia. in a few years I plan to tear down my old detached 2 car garage and do something similar. Thank you for the video. Great work.

It's nice to see you finish an inside. I've seen lots of your videos and I recently saw your work with Lumnah Acres and came back to watch a few more. We see you do such amazing work but we almost never see the finished product. You do the shell and I feel like I'm left wanting because I almost never see what it all looks like when it's done. I bet your channel would skyrocket if you sent your daughter or someone back to film a finished product, and made playlists to include the short "ish" finished product video at the end.
