Another great find. I’m guessing it was a thrift store at one time, from the amount of odd items left. So much cool stuff there, you could spend hours going through it. If you have time later then yes please revisit. I also liked the eerie music at the beginning.

I bet it was a motel (maybe a motor court?) that closed down and reopened as a secondhand shop. The rows of empty rooms have numbers by the doors. The big room with all the windows could've been a whole bunch of things-- a giant lobby, a ballroom / recreational area (like with pool tables or something) or maybe it even had an indoor pool that was filled in when the motel closed down. I kinda doubt that, but the big windows and the deck remind me of an indoor pool. Also, there are boxes of slides near the computers. The thing you picked up was a slide projector. I would've had to see if there were slides in the boxes. They're probably just donations the thrift store received, but wouldn't it be cool if they revealed what the building used to be?
@taralewis2606

@Amber Dawn I love looking at old slides! It would be so cool to find slides in there of this place when it was new, when it was packed with people while it was open, and/or even when it was under construction! I have an old slide projector that was my grandpa’s and you don’t even need a screen to watch a slideshow, just a plain white wall.

What a great, interesting explore that definitely needs to be revisited when more time & daylight are available! The toilet in that bathroom downstairs is a 1946-1952 “Standard “ (American Standard) Cadet, Which suggests that the building was built during that time period.

Awesome where there is an full wooden case, an 8 pack carton of 16 ounce Pepsi bottles plus loose bottles of Dr Pepper and Mountain Dew on the floor. Hi Rick & Bekah!! What an awesome find! I agree with so many here that this was a restaurant or as it was called back in the day, a “Fine Dining and Dancing” establishment with a Motel, I think mainly for those who got a little too tipsy to drive home, and for truckers to stop and sleep before they built a highway with Rest Stops and before the big rigs with sleepers in the cabs. I remember these places from when I was young as they always had a big lit up flashing sign that said “Fine Dining and Dancing” then at the bottom either “Vacancies or No Vacancies”! I think you could see those signs from a mile away. Lol They always sat close to the road too. Of course that changed with highways being built too. Ohio still has quite a few of these as we call them “cheesy, sleezy, or flea bag” motels but the restaurants have closed and turned into other businesses or torn down. There’s one not too far from me that turned into a very nice garden center. From what I hear the motel rooms usually rent by the hour. Lol Y’all found some really cool stuff! The Pepsi bottles, matchbox cars, and all those dishes were my favorites. I do hope you get to go back someday to check out the kitchen! No jumping on the trampoline next time! jk, lol. You were hilarious on there Rick, so much fun! Excellent video y’all!! Take care and stay safe out there!! 😊 God bless you!! ❤️

Trampolines that size are really expensive. I can't believe that was left there. The main building looks like a house from the outside. But I'm thinking it's an antique shop or thrift shop. That would explain all the cool stuff. But that back building with all the numbered units seems like it might be some kind of cheap motel. I'd love to see you go back to it.

Having read the other comments about it being a thrift store I think it was owned by hoarders. That is what it looked like to me. The motel rooms may have been rented by the hour for some of the folks that dined and danced the evening away.

What a peculiar place. If it was a motel at one time, hopefully it looked better. The buildings look institutional. Also, what a weird collection of items that appear to be thrown together. Looks like you stumbled into an early ‘80’s villa, just going by the things I saw in your video. If you do revisit this place I would definitely suggest the boots that someone mentioned as well as the gloves. Something I didn’t hear suggested, and it makes me worry, is breathing filtration. There’s no telling how much asbestos you guys stirred up then inhaled... oh, and not to mention mold spores. There was enough mold on the items I saw to create a sizable lab just to identify all the strains. Did you happen to get the model numbers off any of the computers or monitors you saw? Reason I ask is that I was was an engineer, way back in the day, and some of that equipment had a familiar look to it. Who knows, might be equipment I designed and built. From what I saw in your video, you guys walked past tens of thousands of dollars worth of “stuff”. Now it might not be like finding a box of gold bars but some of what I saw was more valuable than gold, by weight anyway, to the right people. Plus the house wasn’t in that bad of shape, structurally. A crew of four or five people hauling the actual trash and decomposing material plus some people pressure washing everything could have that house ready for a remodel within a week. Who knows, you might find enough material, collectible items and other stuff inside to fund the entire project. Wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened. I remodeled an 1800’s house that I bought for next to nothing and found a bunch of boxes of old letters boxed up in up in the attic. One stamp from one envelope covered what I paid for the house and land as well as all the refurbishment I did on the house. Did well on that deal. I guess the moral of the story here is to check everything before you throw it out for the garbage truck. I know this was a place you were exploring and not looking to purchase but I saw enough items in the video to probably pay for the cost of the house at least. if the sellers aren’t on crack and think they’re sitting on a mansion... which has happened to me. lol. At the very minimum you could contact the owners and request permission to “excavate” the interior of the house before it’s sale or destruction. Done that more than a few times. You just need to make sure the wording in your contract details the fact that you are not cleaning or removing all the “stuff” inside the house and only removing the items you want. I did that once... once. It cost me my ass to empty that house out. It was like the people just decided to walk out for no reason. Food, though it had long ago rotted and basically turned to dust, was still sitting on plates and in bowls on the table... like a scene right out of The Walking Dead. That was one of the creepiest houses I ever worked. Clothes were still in the closet, toothbrushes still in their holders and cabinets full of food, medication and other items that you would expect people to take with them. It was like they just walked out one afternoon and never looked back. I tried for years to find out what caused them to up and leave but never got any answers. Only found out they had moved up north and were doing well. Phone calls and letters (yes, the ones you write on paper, write addresses on the front off the envelope, affix a stamp to it then put in your mailbox for the postal person to pick up and move forward towards its destination) all went unanswered. I had found some items that were very personal in nature, told them as much in my letters, but never heard a peep from them. I lost my ass on that deal but it taught me some very important lessons for the future. Live and learn, so to speak. Well, I’ve babbled on long enough on your post. Enjoyed your video greatly and will be looking for more, especially your future endeavors. Finding places like this to “explore” are becoming harder and harder to find as contractors swoop in to buy up homes and land to build yet another incessant strip mall. Good luck on your hunts and stay safe. Permission from the property owner will go a long way to keep you out of trouble, both personally and legally. But that’s a story for another day. Cheers.
