Up for your viewing pleasure is a 1795 Flowing Hair Dollar, 3 Leaves, graded VF 25 by PCGS. The 1795 represented the second year for the first silver dollar. Ten obverse and eleven reverse dies were used, creating a total of nineteen different varieties. Of this number, there are generally two basic varieties. On the first, there are two leaves inside the wreath under the eagle’s wing and the overall wreath is somewhat smaller. On the second there are three leaves and a somewhat larger sized wreath. It appears that the two leaves variety is somewhat scarcer than the one with three leaves, but the price difference is usually small. Q. David Bowers states in the Mega Red Book: "Many if not (most) have been dipped at one point or another and many have been retoned, often unsatisfactorily".
