I've been doing some family ancestry research... So I got questions, maybe someone can help me with... One of my great grandfather's supposedly supposedly was 1 of the Rebels, at Vinegar Hill according to my research, supposedly a " general " in the rebellion. Makes me question that rank due to according to my research, he only would have been 18, 19 years old at the time of the battle. His name was Alexander Kidd Hobert. Supposedly he escaped the battle, and after losing with a price on his head from the British, he fled to Canada, and then migrated down to my area here In the US, Rock Island, Illinois area. I live close by I've been to his grave. I'm just curious if anyone has any more information, about him and this battle. As I don't know too much. I know our name was changed somewhere along the way, to Hobart instead, about all I know. Anybody that's got any information I would love to hear anything you got, thanks

This is wrong. They weren’t two of the ‘worst atrocities’. 20,000 people were killed in Wexford after they lay down their arms. 300 died at both ‘massacres’. 1500 died at Vinegar Hill. Not the ‘worst’. Not that. At all.
