Clinical steps:
- Preparation of instruments and materials
- Cement spatula, wax knife, sharp scalpel blade, wide glass slap
- Putty rubber base, medium rubber base, accelerator, adhesive
- Special tray made with 1 layer wax spacer and 4 stoppers for rubber base impression material
- Borders should be short 2 mm to give adequate space for border molding material
- Try-in the special tray inside the patient mouth and check the proper extension
- Checking the proper length of labial, buccal and lingual flanges
- Now the tray is ready for taking the final impression
- Application of the rubber base adhesive to the borders of the tray
- The rubber will stick well to the borders and will not separated during tray removal from patient mouth
- If the rubber base separated from borders during border molding remake the procedure again
- Mixing putty rubber base impression material for border molding
- Add accelerator (catalyst) to the base
- Mix until homogenous color achieved then apply to the tray borders
- Insert the tray with border molding material and instantly start the border molding movements to register the labial, buccal & lingual flanges
- Position of the operator in front of the patient in the side of his main working hand
- Wait 3-5 min until setting of the border molding material before removal from patient mouth.
- Suction sound with only border molding material :)
- Review the proper anatomy of all borders before taking the final wash
