Beautiful collection! Could I convince you to build a 1/350 scale HMS Victory and line her up with the modern ships? I think it would be amazing to see in analogue the true size difference between modern ships and wooden ships.

Great video James. I think I will be moving more and more towards 1:350 ships and I have to say that your builds and the way they look are inspirational.

Fantastic collection James! Thanks for sharing it in such detail. Your channel is definitely a source of inspiration for my own builds! Here's hoping more patrons sign up to support and the Yamato arrives soon! USS Ingersoll arrived here today. Now in the line-up for build!

Enjoyed the video. I am 63 and haven't made a model in years but I'm feeling nostalgic so I am going to give a shot at two 1/350 scale ships to see how it goes. Nice to finally see a KZitem modeler who seems to be into ships. I've been watching a lot of videos lately to get up to speed and there are a few, but not too many warship modelers out there. So I'm going to try two kits. One plastic and one resin and the kits I'm going to try are the two classes of ship I was stationed on during my 20 year USN career. Oliver Hazard Perry Class Frigate which I'm going to modify (hopefully) to make into the USS Crommelin FFG-37 and a Knox Class Frigate which I am going to modify (hopefully) to make into the USS Whipple FF-1062. So if anyone happens to see this comment and is into ship modeling, any advice, experience, videos, websites, etc. that you know of, feel free to share. Great video James, impressive fleet. One thing though, the Spruance class was a destroyer. Don't trust Wikipedia. Take my word for it. I've ridden them out of Pearl doing training. STG1 USN (ret) 1979-1999

I have no experience with photo etch. I thought cv 65 would be a good start seeing it’s decks are flat and at right angles . I enjoy your videos and thanks for the motivation.

Nice work man! Your efforts are appreciated! I have always loved ship models but admittedly they challenge my skills. Display is always a problem too without a proper cabinet. Time to go look at my stash of ship kits again!

To make the 'Red October' you actually need TWO of the Dragon 1/350 Typhoon kits. As depicted in the film, its longer and wider. Red October has more missile tubes. The easy splice (I know from experience) is to cut and splice the two kits lengthwise. The Red October is also wider than the regular Typhoon. I decided to try to not replicate that detail as I didn't find a good way to do it.

Would that my collection of builds equals half that fleet size or n the next 2 years! Well done sir! Bravo Zulu. The trumpeter Liberty is coming along. I’m using some of your techniques actually. Oh I meant to mention: LCAC we pronounce as “ELL-Cack” and the CWIS we pronounce as “SeaWiz” -dont know if you’d already known that but thought I’d share anyway. Again, we’ll don’t on your fleet!

Thanks Sea Soldier! Glad to hear the Liberty is coming along well, which tips were useful? And thanks for the vocab tips. Catering for a global audience I suppose. Being British, we just call an ELL Cack a hovercraft. Appreciate the tips!

Hi, I love your collection it's outstanding. If these are all in the scale of 1/350, how many inches are they in length? Also, would you happen to know what the length in inches would be for a US submarine, say for instance the USS Virginia? I'm sorry to admit that I have no understanding of how to gauge scale into inches, thank you for your help.

I love all them all! I want to start building ships (always aircraft in my case), but I dont´t decide the scale. I want a scale that can be see, but the smaller posible. Like 1/72 in aircraft: Small but still detailed. ¿what scale should I start building if I want the same relation but in ships?. Regards!
@jamesparra2821

Best is probably 1/700 scale for small size but still possiblity to get high detail into the model

I used the Gold Medal Models set. It was great though with hindsight, there were so many parts I didn't have the skill to make the most of them all. Have you tried any others?
