Hey Caleb, I just wanted to let you know that you are the first person EVER to instantly sell me on two tech related products! First the Aputure Amaran F7 which I instatly bought two of after you said "USB-C powered" and "under 100" And now this monitor, after you said "can power GH5" and "under 200" You make me poor but god damn happy! Great timing on your videos and awesome selection of products lately, thank you! Edit: I hope, you get a few bucks because of me buying via your Amazon link!

What's the quality of the arm like, and its connection to the screen? This looks amazing, but it always looks a little slanted like the screen is too heavy for the arm, if that makes sense? Thanks for the video as per usual Caleb!

It's not to heavy for the arm but like he said as you rotate the monitor it just seems to loosen the tightening screw.

Thanks for the advice, every video i've seen of it it just looks like it's buckling under its own weight a bit! Good to know that it's generally ok, will make a nice addition to my a6300 filming setup :)
@devdsp0

The setup is much improved on the first time you used this background. Getting closer, off to the side and letting the light spill all helps to tie it into the room with you. A couple more little accent lights for the dark spots over your right hand shoulder to balance it out a bit would help but it'd be very easy to go overboard and make it distracting.

A MUST for Sony users! I've been using this monitor since it's release and it works better than I expected. I'm currently using it in a short film along with the Sony FS7 and it's WAY sharper, bigger and better than the included monitor especially for framing and nailing focus (and the colors are well calibrated)! @@handyveganreviews2556 It has USB-C port power input, so you can power it from any DC 5V supply like a powerbank. It can power your Camera as well. It has full touchscreen interface. Better firmware/OS. It has S-Log2/3, V-log, Log-C native support, you can load LUTS via SD card and preview in real time. Assist features like waveform, vectorscope, false color, auto-mirror functionality. I didn't own the original version but I adore this monitor!

Sorry I'm Joe Riggs, replying from my other KZitem account. The one I bought all the gear for. And yeah, the touchscreen alone is worth it, instead of having to use a dial on the side. And being able to power it from USB-C if needed in a bind is great, and I bought a adapter so I can power my camera from the Monitor. I haven't even played with all the features yet. But i'm glad i bought it. Also has 360 degree tilt arm and sun shade and great hardshell carrying case.

Thanks for the review! I have this same monitor and mostly agree with all your pros and cons. One issue I've had is using it with the Panasonic G85. The signal is rock solid when filming at 1080p. However, when I switch to 4k, the signal drops at random intervals -- and if I'm recording at that moment, the recording stops. Not ideal. I've tried switching the HDMI cable, but it didn't help. Thanks so much for the review, Caleb! I had been considering a SmallHD Focus, which I know is nicer and has a better UI, but at basically $550 cheaper, I pulled the trigger on the A6. I think the monitor itself will do well, but mine came without the black rubber spacer that goes between the monitor and the tilt-arm, so there's no tension to hold the monitor in place - it just flops around. I've written to them and we'll see if they get back to me, otherwise I'll have to return it. Have you heard of anyone having similar issues? Thanks again for all the knowledge you put out - much appreciated! :)

Does that mean that it will show no signal at all, if I film at 4k 60fps?
@BabyBackManiac
6 жыл бұрын
ElementsOfPureMotion yeah, I’d still like to know too. This is kinda of a big deal since the 4K 60 is one of the big selling points of the GH5. It’s weird because I asked this question to Three different tech reviewers with GH5 and none of them answered the question. I get that Caleb has a huge channel the other channels are not as big (or have as many comments to return) as him. It’s starting to make me feel like I felt when I was asking questions about the autofocus for the GH5 before it came out and nobody would talk about or show it. I wonder if the company asked them not to mention this.
@ElementsOfPureMotion
6 жыл бұрын
Ok I got an answer from an other review - you can turn down the output signal of the gh5 down to 4k25fps or even down to 1080 60fps (internally in the settings). if you do this, the field monitor shows what you are filming and you are able to check exposure, focus and so on. You only have to do without the 60fps "preview" in the monitor, which is actually not such a big deal, i guess.

Would a 1/4 in. gripper washer stop that screw undoing itself ? Other than that I can't see much of a defence for the Small HD , they would both get narky if you dropped them so at this price ...although it goes up a bit with the batts and stuff to around 225 but still a hell of a good price. Now this and the NAB hitting my funds !! my wallet is hyperventilating !! If you've got a GH5 lying around , any chance you could do a re-run of this vid ? .So a 12v lead acid slung in a hammock under the tripod legs would run it all for days ! Top job. Thanks

Hi, I've basicly watched all your field monitor videos and I'm stuck on a couple of things, maybe you can help me with. What size of screen is best 5/6/7"? What is your experience, is 5" too small for filmmaking? Of the budget brands you've reviewed, which is the best? Feelworld or Andycine? (Forget the look-a-likes) And which Feelworld? Because they just have too many. I think I narrowed it down to a Feelworld MA5/MA6/MA7 (or F/P models) or Andycine A6 (or lite). Thanks

What about loading in a Lut? Are you able to change the color space on it to match in case you are shooting in log? How is the menu system? I rented a small HD Focus and really enjoyed it and was just about to purchase one but this might be a different option to save some money. I'd like to know some more of the features of the monitor?

Did you tried a tv with hdmi as a monitor? My camping tv with hdmi-in is very good and I do not see any delay...
